I would just like to say that although I would consider myself an addict, morphine has done a lot of great things for me. More good than bad. It's better than being addicted to cocaine, alcohol, or even cigarettes. And although I am an addict, I can hold down a job, work all day, pay my bills, and otherwise live a "normal" constructive life.
Why can't the government see that? Why do they allow sale of alcohol and condemn "junkies"?
When I was in pain from my car accident, morphine saved me from the hell that was pain. And the pain was hell. I can understand why people with undertreated chronic pain would want to kill themselves rather than live with the pain. It sucks. And morphine saved me. It also stuck with me.
Years later and I continue to use and it hasn't caused anywhere near the damage that cocaine had caused or any other drug had caused. And I have an addictive personality.
To me, this is the least destructive thing that I could consume that would appease my appetite for something to alter my consciousness.
Someone had it right when they said it was GOD'S OWN MEDICINE
