Fentanyl for the first time

SWIM has 3 100mcg patches. SWIM put one on a little pit ago. this is SWIM's first time with fentanyl. SWIM has never and will never slam anything. SWIM is not addicted to any kind of drug, he doesn't even smoke cigarettes for fucks sake. SWIM does, however, enjoy a decent high from opiates whenever he can get his hands on them. SWIM has a pretty good tolerance and a fast metabolism, he always has. SWIM has to take 4-5 norco's just to kill a headache and maybe a toothache. SWIM can take 90mg of instant relase oxycodone and be pretty fucked up, but still functional (albeit a little drowsy)and most people can't even tell he's taken anything. So my question is.... does SWIM have anything to worry about using the patches as directed? IE: not on the hand, no heating pads, etc...?

I placed it on my upper back under my right shoulder. the patch is gel btw also.

it's 3:30AM here, and I plan on going to bed and waking up in approx 5 hours and wait for it to kick in. if it gets too strong I am gonna take it off. will I still be all right considering it is still going to get into my bloodstream after removal?

EDIT: just to be on the safe side, I peeled it off and re-applied the backing to half of it, then taped it back on with medical tape, so I only get 50% of the contact area. that should slow it down enough for me to guage how I react to it. I t has a nice little layer of dead skin on the surface now too from when I peeled it off.

yeah, even with some tolerance those 100mcg patches will kick yer ass. Had me puking out the side of a truck window ;) Kinda odd to apply backing to 1/2 of it though... I guess it's ok if you are starting to feel it too hard. Haven't had any patches in awhile...none around my area...

Yeah, hopefully the math is really that simple. 50% surface area = 50% distribution rate. It's been about 8 1/2 hours since application... shoud I be feeling anything?

Im guessing your not feeling anything since you asked that question and if this is the case then I would say something is wrong. I would assume there are many types of patches out there but the morphine and Fent patches that i have had in the past were working well within four hours. Most if not all the patches I've tried were gell too. I dont remember ever getting the nongell ones but alot of times i didnt cut them open to see so i dont know.....maybe it was bunk....Maybe someone replaced the gell with Jello.....I doubt that but to be sure taste it. If the taste reminds you of Bill Cosby and not of radiator fluid than you have been screwed...Dont patches expire quickly? Maybe thats the case...I dunno

My dad was put on fent, and was advised by the doc that it may take up to 24 hours before enough fent builds up in your bloodstream to notice they are working, they advised some prn break through pain meds until they started to work. fent is a very short acting drug, a single oral or IV doses lasts only only 3 hours or so, the half life is short to. goes out of the bloodstream fast thats why the patch takes a while to work and if you remove it, the effects will go away fairly quickly. please do not eat, chew or or lick those patches, my dad did since they "weren't working", he almost died. i got him to the ER just in time his respirations were down to 3. the ER doc said they had 2 kids die a couple months ago from it.

yeah, thread starter, read what dd has to say, if you dont kno this one has years of expirence dating back to the revolution. But seriously, like dd said, methods from here are tried and true (most of em) and if you dont feel the fucking patch slap a heatin pad on it, or just eat the shit. im sure your feeling it by now, unless you had a "bill cosby" (props on that one opiyum, rotflmao)

this is more of a test to see how I react to it really. I'm not concerned with wasting them. if they don't work then no biggie, I'm not hooked on them or anything. Ithink it may not have been working because when i took it off to reapply half of the backing, it had a nice layer of dead skin on it. I think that may have stifled it a litte. I just took it off and empited it into a nasal sprayer and diluted it. now I get a little burst whenever I need. I am going to try another one tonight, but I am going to make sure half the backing is left on before I apply it, so I can get it to adhere real well. this last one I had to tape on and shit, and it kept getting krinkled. So, if I feel it's too strong I can just take it off and it will go away fairly fast? I was under the inpression that it would keep releasing for about 7 hours or so, so by the time you are OD'ing, it's already too late. well if you can just remove it and you'll be fine then I feel a WHOLE lot fuckin better. I'll give it a another whack tonight and let you guys know how I feel.

oh, and even if they are too old or some shit, I don't really care., I got them for free :) some broad worked in a nursing home and thought they were like ICY HOT pads or something, so she took them and gave them to me. heh heh, dumb broad.

I suggest you search for the posts about drying the gel and smoking it. It's by far the best way to use a patch and get the good feelings you are searching for.

SWIM dried up a patch this afternoon and puffed away. SWIM is floating around the apt with loose eyelids and a toothy grin.

Do you mean that you didnt ever feel the effects from it? when you posted the thread it was a while ago, thats why i ask. Thats really weird, if you have a small tolerance to opiates like you say, you shoulda got fucking thrown from that patch. I have a high tolerance to methadone, and fent patches still get me off. Dunno maybe they were icyhot patches?? Could you describe what they look like for us? Not doubting you or youre knowlege, just making sure. BTW ive had experience with reapplying used patches and/or taking mine off and trying to reapply it. It doesnt work very well. I try medical tape and all that, but if youre physically active such as myself, it will easlily get loose, and im sure it looses its effectiveness in some way. Id just keep it on if youre gonna wear it. Like said up there, if after 5 hours you dont feel it, and if it iis indeed a Fentanyl patch, try a heating pad, a smoking method, or eat a lil bit of it. Ive tried those methods except the smoking, not sure if thats so healthy, but nobodys concerned about health all the time heh. Neways, good luck and post results and a description. hah hah. naw man I know it's fent. It's a duragesic 100mcg hour patch. I've done extensive research on these, but all the research I've turned up, besides here, is about how easy it is to OD (hence my paranoia). The packages were unopened, so they haven't been used :). I did start to feel it when I took it off, which is kind of the reason why I took it off. I was sitting down playing a video game and wondering why it hadn't affected me after 10 hours or so when BAM, I almost fell out of my seat. It hit me literally that fast. Now, like I said, I was under the impression that after you take it off, what was left in your skin keeps releasing for about 7-8 hours. I was thinking "fuck, if it hit me this hard, I better pull it off and ride out what's left in skin and see if I can handle it." little did I know that it wears off really fast after you pull it off. I took it off and the effect went away in like a minute. then I was like , FUCK. oh well, I just emptied into a nasal sprayer. like I said, this is my first time fucking with it, and I would rather be paranoid and waste patches, then be cocky and waste my life. So, based on my experience, this is what I will do for my next one:

1) remove patch from package
2) remove only half of the rear backing (to slow absorbtion rate, and hopefully increase longevity)
3) apply to my skin somewhere that it wont crinkle or move (IE: upper back)
4) tape around edges to be safe
5) ride it out as long as I can, (now that I know it wears off not long after removing)
6) enjoy.

so, yeah, I know they are real. when it hit me, it hit me so hard it scared me :)

I am not interested in fucking with it any other way (well besides the very diluted nasal spray), until I establish my tolerance baseline by using it as directed. thanks for the tips though guys. next time I get some patches and I am comfortable with it, I'll experiment with it a little.

Applying a heating pad to it for awhile would always give me a surge of fent in my body and get me so wasted. Sadly I used up the patch in about 1 day from having heat on it all the time, but boy was it worth it :). Much better than smoking it which only gets you high for like 10 minutes.

Just take the whole backing off! Those patches release REALLY SLOWLY... you're not gonna OD if you take the whole backing off. Just be sure to remove the patch if you feel yourself getting too high.

Removing only half the backing is only gonna make it release inefficiently and so slowly you're never gonna feel it (hence your previous experiences). Just remove the whole backing, leave it on until you feel it really strongly, then remove it if necessary.
