Which would you choose to detox on.

Hi all,After 15 years of IV diamorphine use Ive stared to detox.The good(?) people at my addiction unit(clinic) have offered me the choice of; Sub,methadone,DF118's(30mg codeine pills) or Oramorph.
I'm inclined to think oramorph is the way,but if anyone has any thoughts I'd love to hear.

It really depends on your long term goal. Methadone is a good maintenance drug. if you are comfortable using methadone for a long time this is a good choice. I know of bunches of people that have had awesome results with sub. You can taper off relatively easily. If you know you can keep getting a scrip to the oramorph, and you dont really wanna get "Clean" so to speak. give it a try.

After seeing your options for detox/maintenance all I can say is: I wish I fucking lived north of england!

Us junkies in the uk do have it easy over here compared to some of you guys, plus we get it free (mostly) on the NHS just to rub salt into the wounds! I've had a meth script for nigh on eight years now which until recently included injectable amps. (I volunarily gave those up due to lack of veins and exchanged them for oral mixture)
I've never heard of the 'oramorph' option though, could someone tell me more?
Good luck with your detox Nick, how many df's a day are they offering you by the way, I used to use them in bad times before I got my meth script and found that they were quite effective at holding my heroin withdrawals at bay, but i had to take them in quite large quantities.

I know I've always said this and I'm holdin true to it. Stay away from methadone if you can. It's the mother of all detox because of the saturation factor. In my opinoin the best thing to do would be to find out the properties of you options and go from there. Half lives and the such and what-nots, knoledge is going to be your best tool for this decision. Also asking some people here what there experiences with the different meds are will be a huge help. I only have experience with methadone in your list so I'm sorry I cant give you a solid opinoin on the others but good luck and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
