With season 4 of The Wire steadily approaching, I can't help but look forward to another intricate and realistic portrayal of the streets of Baltimore, Maryland. Does anyone else follow the series? I think it's an amazing show with a great cast of characters, whom nearly all are based on real life figures in Baltimore. The show is nearly 100% accurate when it portrays the inner-workings of drug dealing on the West Side of Baltimore (haha, in fact in the first episode of Season 3, there's a scene of a scrap metal shop that's directly across the street from one of SWIM's favorite dealers). Anyway, what do you all think of the show?

It airs on HBO and the fourth season starts on September 10th at 10pm. The first season had an excellent storyline. If you love dope, you'll love The Wire without a doubt.

hmm i dunno wtf i was thinking, ABC. I never watch HBO hardly cuz all they show is reruns of shit. It may be besides the point, but anyone watch Rescue Me on FX? Its not opiate related or nothing, just a bunch of crazy fuckin firefighters. I just got interested in it the middle of the season, its damn good. Anyone else here watch it?

is that anything like The Corner? (another hbo thing, also "from" west baltimore) if so, i'd love to get my hands on it.

Actually, it's written and directed by the same people. The Corner was great too, but each season of The Wire has a more original storyline than The Corner (although The Corner did focus on actual people whose lives were reenacted). David Simon and Ed Burns are the minds behind both creations, and they also created the show Homicide: Life on the Streets that aired on NBC in the 90's (which also took place in Baltimore). And as for semi-revealing the location of SWIM's dealer -- it's far too broad and the cops already know that half the people living in the West Side of Baltimore are involved with drugs. You can't drive around a block in that neighborhood without somebody yelling out product at you.

Lots of the Wire is actually filmed in East Baltimore, ironically. You'll see the hollywood trailers parked along Broadway during filiming season.
I dont have HBO so I cant watcht it, but I definately would if I could!
