View Full Version : Floods, cycclones and who know what else

As I type this, a category 5 cyclone (the most catastrophic and severe cyclone ever for Australia - winds up to to 300 km/h) is headed for the tip of the country.

The eye of the cyclone is 100 km wide (same as Katrina in total size).

Mass evacuations are on, over this large area of potential devastation.

Another threat is the 2.5 metre swell on a very high tide. More water danger.

And then there's the recent floods leaving countless homes and business destroyed and/or damaged.

What the hell do you do when you have to go to a clinic/pharmacy, get dosed and pick up ?

Is looting a pharmacy a forgivable crime, just to get dosed ?

Both the USA and Aus seem to cop much the same weather (except for the snow).

in dallas we are blanketed in about 3 inches of SOLID ICE. it is some crazy shit. people in regular cars can even leave their homes because they will slide every which way. and of course people from dallas have no idea how to deal. no tire chains or rock salt. i love severe weather..

I would say yes. But, try to get your situation sorted before things go bad. If the pharmacy knows that hell is on the way they may be willing to help the customers be prepared for the impending storm.

If that fails, do what you have to do.

My advice though is to start preparing now. Stock up however you can. Getting to, breaking into, and then finding the right meds might be a whole lot harder than you think. Hell, they keep the goodies in a safe here in my area.

Chipper my love, I too am hoping the cyclone is going to hit nowhere near you or any of our down Unda Opiophiles!
I've often thought when the Big One (earthquake) that's predicted to wipe out my city comes, the first place I'd head is my local pharmacy before any of the other junquies get there. I'd load up and deal with disaster very happily :)
PS It's 3 degrees Farenheit here as I type this, with a 20 mph wind.

Here we get extra takehomes for inclement weather, especially if you have to drive quite aways to the clinic. If you go to a regular pharmacy, I don't know what would happen. Generally though, unless it's a hurricane or an earthquake or flood, most pharmacies will be open. If you live where it snows a lot, people are generally prepared for it.

I'm down in New South Wales which is further from the Equator than the trouble spots. The flood and cyclone victims are in Queensland which is at least 1000 km. north of me. We don't get cyclones down here but we still have to worry about fire.

Thanks for asking - Chipper is very safe; he even lives in a suburb with the word "Hill" in it so there are no worries of floods and storm water affecting him.

I have been following this craziness.

I feel so sorry for all the evacuees who had to leave their pets at home. I would have preferred to bunker down at home with my cat, than leave him alone.

And the junkys! Fuck being sick during a natural disaster. Ack.

There were some incredible images from the flooding, fortunately it seems this cyclone wasn't quite as bad as predicted. But still, the planet seems very pissed off...

The planet IS pissed off, I can't believe the crazy weather in Australia lately..

I was in Hurricane Andrew, 1992 in Fort Lauderdale - high on acid in a Cat 5 storm.. THAT was a night I wont ever forget..

Tripping in a natural disaster ? Jesus, you've got balls. Or was it an accident ? Good trip / bad trip ?

I'm amazed.

I wouldn't call it balls; I'd call it young and stupid.. It was a ride, no doubt.. I might do it again; but I'd be A LOT more careful next time..

That storm was no fucking joke..

Good trip, respectful trip.. Don't piss off Momma Nature..

I always said that if there was ever any crazy natural disaster in my area (fat chance NH has no real earthquakes, volcanoes, etc. we did have a CRAZY ice storm back in 98 that caused millions in damage and shut the area down for over a week though) that the first thing I'd do is raid the pharmacy

That's a pretty big difference.

Still, stealing is stealing.
