ew carlos mencia..... the latin dave chappelle....for some reason i despise that guy. maybe its the fact hes trying to capitalize on ethnic sketch comedy much like good ol chapelle. sure latinos can have that sorta thing... i guess its his "intesity" and yearning to be shocking and inventive that pisses me off cuz it doesnt work.
now mitch hedberg.... the mans a genius. you can see most all of his televised work here http://www.smithappens.com/video_mitchhedberg.php . "Acid was my favorite drug, because of acid, i now know that butter is much better than margerine. I saw thru the bullshit!!" check out the comedy central presents special hes got first. fantastic.
lewis black is also pretty sweet if your into politics and whatnot.

if you like stand up, which you said you did, you have to check out Patton Oswalts CD Feeling Patton that shit is so funny. must of the stuff on the CD is on his comedy central stand up but most of the really good stuff isnt, check out that CD its on itunes

There's a few redneck comedians.. lol
Rodney Carrington - I like most of his.
Larry The Cable Guy - he's okay, sometimes.
Jeff Foxworthy - he's the "here's your sign" guy.
Sorry couldn't be of that much help - but hey, I guess everyone's input is good.
YouTube.com is awesome, too.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Bill Hicks yet. He also passed away, but he had plenty of funny stuff in his lifetime. He was big into drugs for a while, especially psychedelics, which often show up in his jokes. If you listen to the band Tool, they use clips of his stand up at the beginning of the song "3rd Eye."
"You see I think drugs have done some good things for us, I really do. And if you don't believe drugs have done good things for us do me a favor: go home tonight and take all your tapes, all your CDs, all your albums and burn em! Because you know what, those musicians who made all that great music thats enhanced your life throughout the years?.......Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeaaaaal fuckin' high on drugs."
Hes got plenty of funnier stuff, thats just a more well-known joke of his. His whole bit about magic mushrooms and LSD is hilarious. He was very funny, but also very intelligent and insightful. Check him out for sure

no, no, theres not. none of them are good. if they admit they are a redneck, stop listening to them.
also, jeff foxworthy is the "you might be a redneck if..." guy. bill engall, maybe, is the heres your sign guy.
larry the cable guy should be put to death. i was saddened when i learned he is from my town.

Well, humor, like anything else, is in the eye of the beholder. I think Jon Stewart is a must-watch EVERY NITE on comedy channel. Colbert is getting pretty good too.
I'm tired of all the racial bullshit, like mencia, chapelle, etc. I had friends in high-school that made fun of retards and camel-fuckers better than those guys (hahahaha that was supposed to be irony).
I'm still a sucker for potty humor. Tell me a fart joke and I'll laugh and laugh. That and watching someone drive into a ditch 'cause a kid stole a dead-end sign, or seeing someone get hit in the balls with a golf club.
I don't know... I guess what I'm saying is to me, life is much funnier than someone standing up in front of a bunch of people, still trying to find a unique way to look at shit. To me, that's almost as bad as being tickled (which I'm NOT ticklish, of course).
Having said that, old motherfuckers that have seen everything are the funniest to listen to... if I have to (and I'm not referring to anybody here, no no).

They all suck. except for a few mentioned that I like. HOM you jaded middle-aged dick. What did Seinfeld ever do to you?
Colbert is getting good. He has so many lines to say ever night and he does a damn good job at it. Early on it seemed he took a shot of novocaine before every show. Now hes cruisin' thru.

He cant be considered a comedian. That really doesn't do him justice. Though he is very funny hes more of a visionary. Like John Lennon just swears more, cant sing, and isnt very good looking. Which begs the question. Was John Lennon good looking?
He's a very pissed off guy but if the world were the way could be then he wouldn't have had a career and would have been much happier. The cancer probably wouldn't have killed him either.

"I got to be in a movie with Peter Frampton, and we had to smoke pot for a scene, but it was fake pot! Do not buy pot on a movie set. But I got to smoke fake pot with Peter Frampton, thats a cool story. Its as cool as smoking real pot with a guy who looks like Peter Frampton... I've done that way more."

Ahhhh, Dane Cook. I haven't laughed so hard at a comedy CD ever! CT2004, Chicken Sangwich, Nothing Fights, Weird guy at the office who is "shapes", Karen is always a bag of douche!, coming of age tale (first BJ). Also, from Harmful If Swallowed, listening for a car accident, "Why did you stop at that red light so I could hit you doing 80?!?!", Future DMV taking 9 seconds, Ordering something non existent on the menu, and so much more!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Queen of Mean, Lisa Lampanelli. This fat bitch makes me look like a devout Christian. ^_^ Mitch Hedburg was the man. "Escalators can never break, they can only become stairs. Sorry for the convenience." A few other honorable mentions are Bill Burr and Louise CK.

I found some Bill Hicks footage for y'all! Classic stuff. The first one is Bill Hicks take on Christianity. The second is one of his rants on the JFK assassination. Blame WarmCyanide for my obsession for finding and posting all of this footage lately. The 3rd is a long one. I'm watching it as we speak. Edit: The third link has Hicks classic "Great Time on Drugs" rant. 28 minutes long. Good stuff.

I'm a big fan of stand up. It's a shame I don't have cable anymore. That means no Comedy Central. My favorites are the classics: George Carlin, Richard Pryor... There are some really good ones coming up nowadays, too. Jim Norton is always a favorite. I love the O&A show. The traveling Virus came to Cleveland not too long ago and they had all sorts of funny motherfuckers. Bob Saget is actually hilarious if you catch his stand up routine. Louie CK is another classier comic that's cool. Dane Cook, of course, who's gonna be HUGE pretty soon here, is hilarious. There's way too many I like to list them. I like comedy almost as much as I like music.

Dane Cook is not funny, especially if you are just listenening to him, his bit relies way to much on his overddramatic movements on stage. Vicious Circle was awful. I just watched the new Kat Williams stand up a couple nights ago, hands down the funniest stand up I have seen in a long fucking time.

Hey Ant, were you into The State? It's everyone from Reno 911, and stella in an early 90's sketch comedy show.
As for stand-up:
Mitch Hedberg
Patton Oswald
Ardal O'Hanlon
Demetri Martin (think I missed his live show)
Ron White
George Carlin (older material, mainly)
Steven Wright
Ellen DeGeneres (not her damn tv shows, her stand-up)
Eddie Izzard
Laura Kightlinger
Daniel Tosh
Maria Bamford
Arj Barker
Dwayne Kennedy
Dane CookThere's a special place in my heart for Otis Lee Crenshaw. And though I don't care for Carlos, his early stand-up was actually pretty good, I don't know what the hell happened (money?)
