Ok, I realize that there have been several threads started on this topic that didn't go anywhere. This substance seems to be more notorious than anything else, at least to us here at opiophile, right?

A fellow junkylife blogger (http://junkylife.com/junky.htm) - poppy red (http://www.junkylife.com/poppyred/) (I miss her and wish she was still writing) - tried ibogaine treatment 3 or 4 times... she had nothing but good things to say: that it worked well, helped her get through some of her worst addictive behaviors, etc. But she never got around to posting much about it... too bad.

Anyway, I guess in the meantime maybe this thread could be a conversation about it and what people have heard.. maybe we can verify some things, and maybe even find someone else who's tried it on for size...

Iboquine is a powerful psychedelic made from the Ibo root. It has been called the most powerful psychedelic by length of experience LSD the most powerful by weight (microgram doses) At one point, LSD was used (successfully) to treat chronic alcoholics. In like manner, Ibo is being used to treat addicts. It is said to suppress WD symptoms but it is a trip..a long one. The proponents say the intense imagery can ,with the help of a guide, reveal the reasons behind the addiction and therefore provide a "cure." The treatments occur outside of the U.S. and its laws. I have read very positive things and then not so positive, It costs a lot of $$$ (the treatment." Reference The Ibogaine Story:Report on the Staten Island Project, Autonomedia by Paul De Rienzo,Dana Beal and members of the project. Howard Latsoff, who I knew when in New York, was the heroin addict who initially had a great Ibogaine experience copped a footlocker full of the root and spearheaded the Project with a missionary zeal. He believes he was cured by a single Ibogaine dose of heroin addiction.

ibogaine was used into the 1970's in america in a few prescription medicines I believe.
in low doses it is a cocaine like stimulant.....
in low doses it also will potentiate opiates, and I imagine, on its own relieve pain.

I am waiting to try this stuff, most likely I will end up in mexico and try some different dosage regimines.

I watched a documentary on it called "Ibogaine- Rite of Passage" It was really good, and super informative. I believe it was filmed at the Ibogaine treatment center in Tiajuanna. It's pretty easy to find the torrent online and download it.

You probably already know this but Iboquine is a very powerful hallucinogenic. Not always nice trips either. Also, is supposed to stop WD's. See the Staten Island Peroject, Autonomedia for more information. Howard Latsof is supposed to have cured his long heroin addiction with one dose and then poinered the use to help other addicts.
