How Long Until My Tolerance Is Gone? (and a funny story)

Well kiddies, I've been using too much of the good stuff lately, and it's time to assert some fucking self control. Here's why...

I'm wrecked on about 25mg of Oxy Wednesday, eating dinner with my fiance's grandparents. Between telling the most hilarious euphoria-inducded jokes (i.e., not being witty, charming, or funny, but mainly making an ass of myself) I was scratching my nose, rubbing my face, and spilling Mee-Maw's gravy all over my best tie. Anyhoo, long story short, Grandpaw (about twenty years past senile) leans over to my fiance and says in the best Froghorn Leghorn, "I do believe your young beau is completly fucked out of his skull."

So, time to pull in the reigns on this habit of mine.

I haven't dosed since then, and I only spent two days with mild withdraws. A minor flu, it felt like. So, my question is this... Assuming I don't dose at all, when my tolerance reduce to nothing or as close as it's gonna get?

I'd love to get back to the point when one pill would send me over the moon.

as far as wd goes....umm day 2 always kicks my ass and i am only a hydroco. addict. I have 2 pills left and starting mild wds myself (just looking at the only 2 left) i always say im going to stop for the sake of myself and tolerance if nothing else...then give in in about 48 hours...sighhhhh !!!

From everything i always gather on this site....if you can ride out the wd's they WILL get better....i no i offer no help but your post made me LMAO this morning..the part about granpa...hehe...:D that was too funny and i guess if he suspects something wasnt up to par well, i guess your right, time to bring tolerance down...lol

For a lot of us, tolerance doesn't go down. In a short time, it goes back to where it was or worse. there are those that claim that even if you stay off for years, the tolerance remains as the change in your opiate receptors stays ...of course, you'll feel it more at first after staying clean but in a too short time your back to an oil burning habit. good luck with it anyhow. a week or two should lower your tolerance much more than a few days off will, if you can last that long. I've heard that even just a few days or up to about a week can really reduce the initial tolerance for some people. problem is that when you go back to using it climbs right back up to where you were in a short time.

I get prescribed quite a bit a month but im taking a break so I get more euphoria from them. I've been taking 140mg last time I used and that's not pretty. It's gonna be 3 weeks next week so, hopefully.....

Like you Inspektahdek, I took a break of 3 weeks last month from hydro's to help my tolerance. I got the euph from 1 pill, but by the third day I was up to 50mg. Before I knew it I was back to 150mg.

So, if you were to take 3 weeks between EACH dose, you would be just fine. But I don't think any of us has the control to do that :)

I kicked back in December---five weeks completely clean. I thought an OC 80 would be enough to get me really high (it used to)---well, I was wrong. I caught the slightest buzz, but within days my tolerance was back up in the 200mg range. Now it's well over 400mg, so I don't even bother with the stupid pills anymore---the only thing that works for me (and blasts thru the Bupe) is the high-power heroin I am lucky to be able to get. Tolerance is a bitch....

Well, they were Endo generics, too, so maybe that's why I had to take so much. I mean, yeah, my tolerance is way up there, but I swear, those Endos are crap compared to Purdue or ABG. Some say there is no difference, but I say there is....

your earlier post said you took a break last month from hydros.....dang....moved up a few notches in the controlled drug classes when the ole tolerance reduction method failed, eh...

sorry to hear about your bad news/nasty break...been there and I can totally empathize

Well, CT, that's an example of what a vicious circle our habit/tolerances are: OCs were getting sooo expensive, so we basically switched over to heroin almost exclusively, thinking it would be the more economical way to go, which in turn caused our tolerances to go waaay up, which now causes us to have to spend a lot more on the heroin to get us to where the OCs used to get us.

Whew, what a fuckin' mouthful, eh? Actually, we prefer the heroin high over OxyContin (except that H gets us into nod-land much easier that OC, which is cool except when we want the stimulating effect from OC, ie@ being at work or cleaning the house, etc...), but either way, our habits being so freakin' expensive is part of the reason for getting into our respective Sub programs. This way we can do dope on the weekends and combat the withdrawals during the work-week. When we were deluding ourslves thinking we could do opiates all week long, including at work, we were spending assloads of money that we shouldn't have been.

And since neither of us is actually loaded (I mean, we do OK, but we're talking over a grand a week at the peak of our insane addictions), well, it was a no-brainer. The problem now being the fact that eventually we're supposed to actually be clean---meaning they're probably not gonna let us stay on Sub forever.

Oh, gosh, oh my, so much to think about....what's a worthless junky to do? :o :o :o :o

i don't know that i'd get THAT wrecked on 25mg even when i was opiate naive. i envy you. i'm pretty sure i'd have to snort an 80 to get off decently. still, my tolerance is lwoer than it was when i had a 400mg/night habit.
