Acetic anhydride

I was just looking around my lab for a few chemicals I need and i found a big old bottle of acetic anhydride :D . It struck me as kind of funny because I'm always reading about what a hard time peole have trying to get it. Unfortunately I need sodium borohydride, so it won't help me right now, but I thought I would share this with the dead chemistry forum.

And no, I won't mail it anywhere.

Is sodium borohydride used in the H making process? Just that i never heard it was needed, what does it do or needed for in process?

Ya, it isn't needed for h synthesis, I just was looking for it the day I ran across the acetic anhydride and thought it was funny that everyone is always looking for it and we've got a big bottle just sitting around not being used (I think what we're doing is actually acetic anhydride abuse!)

edit: i missed some of these replies! No, i haven't tried anything with it.... yet. I don't run across morphine very often, but maybe because i don't really look for it. If i had a bunch of that, i would definitely put the ah to use!

Here is where one hand washes the other.. I don't run accross AA that often, but I've got piles of M laying around, so maybe we can.. :D

Hey vax- maybe I shouldnt be trying to switch from avinzas to OC...

I would personally never switch to OC from anything, but I just don't like OC I guess. I thought it was the most disappointing drug I've ever tried, well I guess I'd rate pot as the most disappointing. I know lots of people complain about morph scripts, but I think it's a great drug- so many things you can do with it!

If your not a shooter, it's really limited. Like 90% of morphine pills are unsnortable. If I could get morphine that was as easy to prep as oxy, I wouldn't mind it at all. I used to get 15mg mscontins, tried the brand name only- and it just turned into a flat mooshed peice of wax. Maybe there is a brand I could get of MS that would sniff easily? If so, that would be much easier to switch to than OC. Before the crash, we were talking about it on my Avinza thread. Any ideas?

I'm with you there vax! M is so underrated is sad. Oxy is completely overrated IMO. Nothing, other than good H and dillies from time to time, can compare to that pins and needles rush from M.. AhhHhHHhhhh!!

^I had actually forgotten how intense of a rush it was until yesterday. It's been way too long since I had iv morph. I knew it was great, but really had forgotten all the excitement! And it lasts so much longer! I'm more used to hydromorphone and that's gone in a couple hours, 4 max. I could make 8 or 10 hours no prob with morph. This actually reminds me, I was going to write out some of what I learned from Kadian's and my brief experiment, I'll just start a thread for that. I found out a couple interesting things that I'll share for those who are interested!
