The most interesting thing about this article....One fish contains roughly 660 doses.

http://www.themuse.ca/view.php?aid=38782

I guess it would be a risky thing for someone to try and experiament with creating the opiate like effect from the poison in this fish that they are saying can be created.
I think they sell these fish at local pet stores. My Dad used to have one when I was a kid.

This looks like a pretty realistic possibility. Someone who knows what they are doing, opposite of me, should look into this shit. Of course we can talk later about the 15% finders fee. I don't buy into that 10% BS.
Anyway this could be our ticket to being able to manufacture powerful opiods in the home like all those spoiled Meth Heads who have the ability to create their DOC for $5.63 per gram.

Jacky don't go and spoil this one for me. If it's an outlet that's already been explored and proven to be for not then don't let me know. Just let me live in my fantasy world of make believe.

From the sounds of the article, and similar others I've read, I don't think such a substance would be an actual opiate agonist in any way. I believe they have a completely different mode of action to produce their analgesic effects.

Why the TTX "can help reduce withdrawal symptoms in heroin addicts" I don't know, but it's probably just diminishing some of the physical pain rather than fitting into those hungry opiate receptors.

Sorry to burst the bubble, but I don't think TTX is the answer. However, in response to your desire for a cheap, self-produced opiate, why not grow some poppies? It would take longer to get your product, but you'd wind up with a comparably cheap product to those spoiled meth heads.

Isn't there such thing as a Non-Mu(Kappa) opioid agonist?

In preparations of guinea-pig ileum comprising the circular muscle and the axonal processes of myenteric neurons, electrical stimulation evoked contractions of the circular muscle which were abolished by tetrodotoxin and by hyoscine, indicating that they resulted from action potential-mediated release of acetylcholine. The selective mu opioid agonist, (D-Ala2-N-Me-Phe4-Gly5-ol)-enkephalin (DAGO), and the selective kappa opioid agonist, trans-(+/-)-3,4-dichloro-N-(2-(1-pyrrolidinyl) cyclohexyl) benzeneacetamide, U-50488H, caused concentration-dependent and naloxone-reversible inhibitions of nerve-mediated contractions. The experiments indicate that opioid mu and kappa receptors are present on the axonal processes of cholinergic excitatory motor neurons supplying the circular muscle of the guinea-pig ileum.

Does this explain anything? I only understand mmmmmm....Roughly 10% of the words in this paragraph.

Hmm, neurotoxins aren't my idea of a good time (neither are paralysis, labored breathing, or death).

As far as I can tell, your last post is saying that the tetrodotoxin is blocking the release of acetylcholine, reducing muscle contractions. I really don't know enough about the subject to be helpful.

I recall seeing an article about the development of a tetrodotoxin based treatment for opiate addiction, but I don't think it ever mentioned how it works. It mentioned it being non-addictive, so you can safely assume that this derivative won't be fun either.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on the subject can shed some light on the details.

Yeah i wasnt suggesting that it was...but i get what your saying....

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable on the subject can shed some light on the details.
That's what im hoping for.

isn't this the stuff the voodoo priests use to make zombies? Wade Davis wrote a book, The Serpent and the Rainbow, about his travels down to Haiti for a pharmaceutical company where he obtained some of the zombie powder.
tetrodotoxin doesn't sound fun at all to me.
