Oxycodone and Heat

I recently got my monthly supply of Percocet. In order to make it last the month, I take some one the weekend and then leave the rest in my room at home and go to my apartment which is about 6 hours away. While at home I had my airconditioner on so I never though twice about it being too hot in my room to store the pills. When I got to my apartment I realized that it was going to be 100+ degrees in my room back home for the next 5 days now that the AC is off. Will this damgage the pills? Please let me know if you think you have an answer to this as I will be worrying all week about it.

PS. They are in a ziplock bag so I dont feel moisture will be a problem. And they are also in a dark place even though it will get hot in there.

Doubt your pills are in trouble unless the mice eat them

It would have to get alot hotter than alittle over a 100* to do any damage to your pills but if your worried about it why not stick them in the refirgerator.

Well, thats the deal. I leave them home which is far away from where im staying now. This way they last a little longer than 3 or 4 days. Taking them only on the weekends and not touching them durring the week makes them last so much longer. And this way I dont feel like I wasted them to get through the work week. I actually enjoy them on my free time on the weekends. Its good to know they will last a few days in the heat. I was so worried that when I got there on Friday night I would take some and find that they had spoiled. (this method also keeps my tolerance affordable and keeps my wallet from being too empty, but it takes a lot of will power)

don't sweat it for sure. i've boiled oxy hard for over 10 minutes and it didn't appear to do any harm(i was extracting a bunch of percs)

yeh definitly no change at all in the pills... i live in southern mississppi where its been getting that hot lately and my nodding is perfectly normal due to perfectly normal pills

I would most definitely go home right away and get those pills away from heat. Oxycodone (especially) is very suceptible to heat, if left in a room hotter than 89% farenheit for longer than 1 day, they start to degrade internally. They wont seem affected from the outside at all, but after 24 hours in that kind of heat (89%) theywill start to lose 5-10 mg's per every other hour.

Say you have a 40mg Oxycontin, and you have it in a room that stays hotter than 89%, after 24 hours, every other hour following the mg will slowly start to fall from 40mg's to 35mg's and so on.

I am completely fuckin with you, your pills are safe:)

I dunno much about percs, but methadone- particularly mallinkrodt methadose's 10mg, turn into flower real easy. I mean, they're made to dissolved in water or juice, but i don't bother. I got a new kind of mallinkrodts that're rectangular; I dunno if they're different or what., but they seem to be harder.

My pharmacy switched because I was having so many problems with them. Thank God! I talked to a young pharmacist, I think that was his title; he gave me my meds and filled it. We were talking bout how those crappy ones turn to flour. He didn't know they were intended to be used in solution or that they were actually intended for clinics not regular use. I think thats why they switched. I had one script of Roxane Dolophines. I liked those. Can't say theres a different in effect though. They both work in about the same time, cut my pain the same, make me just as tired.

I doubt such a product exists, but maybe one of you have such an item.

I also tend to take 1, 2, 10, 50 pills before I should and I end up running out and having to wait until refill time. Since I dont have a place I can leave them that is several hours away, my only defense against taking them all is will power. And most of us know who the winner is when it's Will Power vs. Watson.

Is there any sort of device that you can put your meds in and then lock it for a predetermined amount of time? This way I could take my meds on the weekend and then not be able to get to them until the following weekend. Then I wouldn't run out early like I ALWAYS do. If such a device existed I would buy one right away.

Of course if I did have one I might wake up on a wednesday and decide I must have a pill (or 2). I would then smash the device agaist the ground until I got it open..... So the device needs to be relatively inexpensive because I will probably be replacing it often. :D :D :D :D

I was about to say the same thing until I finished your post. Maybe you can coat the pills you want to hold off on taking with naltrexone. Get some liquid naltrexone and cover your pills time-released-naltrexone-liquid. This was you wouldnt be able to take your pills until the naltrexone has dissolved properly off your pill. Taking it early would put you into w/d land.

I just picked up my refill so I am going to try spreading them around my apartment. 10 in the sock drawer, a few in the cuppboard, a few in the fridge.

Hopefully this will help make them last a little longer. I will probably end up tearing my apt apart looking for more when I have run out though. That's ok...hide and seek is fun!

Back when I was getting 10mg Meth tablets, I would simply refuse methdose, period. Luckily, I was not the only one complaining about them, so my pharmacy changed to the Roxane tablets. However, when I changed to a 40mg tablet, I was told that they did not make it in anything but Methadose. So, I have had to take that crappy shit for over a year now...

Lo and behold, I stopped by a CVS pharmacy a few blocks from my doctor's office (and much closer than my normal pharmacy) to get my scripts filled today because I was out and not feeling well.... to my utter pleasure and COMPLETE surprise, they gave me two pristine 100 tablet 40mg Roxane Methadone bottles.... a pretty orangish color... considerablly smaller that those huge frickin 'dose-biscuts I've been taking for a long time now. Even if there was no difference besides size, it would be worth getting the Roxanne.... those other ones are a bitch to swallow! And talk about tasteing bad if you get one stuck.... OMG! NE ways, I feel much better and I don't its psychomatic. But, hey, if it is, what the hell! :D

Sorry for that rant! On topic... I have found that the best method is to give pills to my wife, who will hardly take a tylenol when she needs one, and tell her only to give me what I am supposed to take each day... Nothing is worse than hurting and needing meds and having to wait a week or more to get them.. its like your whole life is on hold.... I hate that!!!

Expo, looks like you have a great situation. I would certainly think twice about driving twelve hours for a buzz, unless, of course, I was dope sick... then, I'd charge hell with a water pistol and sell any body part that I don't absolutely have to have! :eek:
