Hello again everybody ive been a member of this site for about a month almost and have really enjoyed reading and learning from posts. I find this a very useful sites for different reasons. I currently live with my mom to help her out a little bit because she got in a serious car accident 5 years ago breaking her neck ( C2&C7) causing spinal cord injury. Diagnosis is "incomplete quad." She has recovered somewhat since the wreck, at first it was horrible, we had to carry her around literally... anyways one main problem persist and i have noticed that everywhere i go people needing pain management sometimes find it hard to find GOOD doctors, and also some efficent pain medication for the condition... we have been going through hell with that ever since the accident... my question, the reason im posting is i was curious if anyone here has any experience with spinal cord injury // neuropathic pain. I havent seen anyone mention specifically but i kno many of you are c.p. sufferers. After 5 years living with my mom and bein involved with her condition, i have learned quite a few things about S.C.I (spinal cord injury) and relief and so has she. Especially her. Right now just like quite often she is finding it hard to find a good doctor that will write sufficient pain meds without paying so much goddamn money. We aint rich and i kno that everyone of the cp patients understand that if you are not rolling around in money to throw at doctors that are gonna write SHIT for legit pain. It has especially been hard to find doctors since hurricaine katrina, i live in south mississppi, directly in the path of the storm just a little bit north of the coast. Living in mississippi and bein a c.p. patient is tough as it is because from what my knowledge is that here there are many limitations on what can be prescribed and so-on..dont ask me why i just kno its the law... you cant find a doctor that will write methadone because it cant be written here, so we have to travel out of state for every visit paying $200-$400 per visit and thats if we get lucky. There are pain manegment clinics offering pain injections but thats is so fucking outrageous price wise that we have never been able to try it.. anyways without rambling on more than i have, i would apreciate if anyone could give some advice/insight/comments, i was just wondering if anyone suffered from a similar conditon and what medications worked for you, what experiences do you have finding doctors and medication...thank you in advance. i am desperate to find out anything i can about this situation that i havent tried!!! peace..
