with my insurance taking a big fat dive, i'm back to paying full price. it was costing me only $32 a month to see the doc and get 120 8mg's a day and now it's back to around $840 (if i want to continue the same dosage, etc.)

damnit.

It's always shocked me how much Americans pay for their medications...

Sheesh, hope it's nowhere near that much for me (I think, though, that the price is capped at $40 for me, depending on the program, and how far I have to go to be dosed.)

hopefully so. i can't believe how much it is here. of course then there's the doc's argument about how 'if you can afford to pay for dope...' or 'it's really not that expensive compared to...' -- yeah, right. i'm supposed to go out and continue robbing and stealing, but spend the money on bup instead of heroin?

Heyy hey!

My insurance expires midnite 12/31.So far They've only paid for the meds, not the visits.By the time my insurance stops paying for the meds,I'll only have to see the Doc once a month,so That's 90 bucks for him plus meds???
I don't know how much it costs here.I asked at CVS and they said subutex is cheaper than suboxone(by about $40) but at the time I didn't know the dosage/day ..what a months supply would be.
I'm going to explain this to the Doc so maybe he can write me a bigger scrip the last few times I'm covered.I'm on 2 8mgs @day now,but I know some people do as much as 4x8mgs,so I'll se what he says.
I have to drive 400 miles (Nashville-Memphis,Tennessee)...so I hop we go on the monthly deal soon...It's a beautiful drive and all...just looooooooong.
Also...If I can taper my dose down, which I've heard is actually better..I know it makes no sense....but if I could get down to like 2/4mgs or 2/2mgs that month long scrip would hold out quite a while.
My MD isn't really happy with my tapering plans. He's a really compassionate guy,and I know he's not doing it to keep patients(there's a waiting list a mile long)....I just talked to my Phd in pharmacology buddy, and he said someone on my relatively low opiate addiction (10-14 lortabs/day) doesn't need to be on as long as say .....a 240 a day oxy user for 6 years or a decade long heroin user.

man, my bup - without insurance coverage - is around $1000 per 30 days. I would think getting ANY kind of insurance coverage, even if for just a month or two (and then loading up on the script) would be the best way to go. you'll never get the subutex, without the naloxone, no dr will prescribe it for addiction treatment. if you do, let me know - i'll move closer to where you live....:D

he said someone on my relatively low opiate addiction (10-14 lortabs/day) doesn't need to be on as long as say .....a 240 a day oxy user for 6 years or a decade long heroin userwith the extremely low ceiling (about 30%) of bup, why would it matter? buprenorphine isn't a cure for opiate addiction, at least from a mental/emotional standpoint. i would think that 24mg's a day across the board for everyone, regardless of history, would be plenty. anything over that sounds to me like overkill. but each to his own - my point is that whether you're taking 10-14 lortabs, or 240 oxy - you're still going to get a 30% ceiling out of the bup no matter which way you look at it...

and i'm back on that insurance, baby. no fucking way i can give it up now. with some new and unexpected health concerns, i'm relieved to say that i'll be buped up at least for another year. 'not even going to chance going without...

this stuff is like gold, i sometimes think to myself - like i need to stockpile it and keep it safe....

Baseball65, did you get my e-mail yesterday? Let me know if you didn't and I'll give you my doc's #. He's just past Cookeville which, as you know, is much closer to Nashville.

unfortunately, bup is expensive no matter where you go. (and being broke never helps....)

would be a good project for the site to petition for assistance to those who can't other afford.

have you looked into methadone?
