I was wondering as there are at least a few of us here who suffer from chronic pain (myself included). My question is: what are you Rx'ed for pain? What do you/SWIM use for pain/fun? And, do you get treated like a junky (even if you are, i don't care, i am) when you get Rx pain drugs at the pharmacy? Also, share any particularly good/bad experience you had regarding chronic pain.

As for me, I've been sent to a few different docs, but finally found the right one. After being pumped full of Lortab-10s for forever, my current doc switched me to MS Contin 15mg 2x daily and Percocet-5 every 5 hours for breakthrough pain. This has finally taken care of my back pain. That's pretty much all I take for pain except for some Motrin 800s every now and then.

In regards to fun, well, I pretty much loaded all day long from my Rx drugs, but I occasionally some good ole' Dilaudid 8s.

And I get the dirtiest looks in the world at the pharmacy, but i say FUCK 'EM. I have an Rx that's legit. That's all they need to know. The best experience I've had with having CP is to have a Dr. take me seriously. Sounds silly, but its true. Enough ranting and raving.

...a guilty conscience no...a tormented mind, yeah.

Having CP and being a user is tough spot to be in; I wish it on no one.

Great Doctor, and i have a great pharmacist. When it comes to pharmacists i strongly recomend that you go to a privately owned pharmacy. They depend on their customers business. Its much better than going to a large corporate business because the large business arent going to go bankrupt if you stop going so they dont really give a shit, its not always the case but in my experience i find this to be true. There are so many reasons to go to a small pharmacy(not a chain business), i could go on and on. You would think they would be much more expensive but that is not always the case...i compared my pharm to cvs and a few others and mine takes the cake. My pharmacist has bent and broken the rules many times cause he knows i am a reliable customer. An important thing is to establish a relationship of respect with your doctor/pharmacist...it can go a long way when you need a hand. I have found if you are having trouble with the doc/pharm get a new one (if possible), if they dont respect you, well then...F them, afterall your giving them your hard earned dough.

bronyraur...im just wondering are you a coheed and cambria fan they have a secret song named something like that i think. Its named after the Zepplin song. Odds are you probably havent even heard of Coheed but it would be cool to find a fellow fan here...im yet to find a fellow Co&Ca fan.

savagephish: i can't say that i'm a coheed and/or cambria fan, however I'm a big Zep head, hence the username. And bron-yr-aur and bron-y-aur stomp of some of my fav Zep songs (different spellings are correct). Could you point me towards a website for coheed/cambria; i'm am always open to broadening my horizons in music.

BTW: Hope your pain is under control, mine finally is; I know howe hard the CP life can be sometimes/all the time.

Ill post more but heres a couple
Coheed and Cambria Links: www.coheedandcambria.com (http://www.coheedandcambria.com) When you go to there home site one of there newer songs comes up youll here it automatically.
A bunch of samples here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AA302A/ref=pd_sim_m_1/002-1583156-3568850?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance&n=5174
ill post more links when i find them...i have all the albums and live ones on my CPU but idont know how to send them to you.
I know you didnt ask for all this info, and im not trying to hijack your thread but i had to write alittle about one of the greatest bands of our time. I promise or i will refund your money (LOL) that if you take 30 bucks and buy there three albums and give them a good listen you will not be sorry and have a new favorite band to add to your collection. And ill always be here to PM to talk extensively bout this band. LOL
Coheed and Cambria are a damn good band...they have two guitarists and a bass guitarist so they are a very guitar driven band. A cool thing about them is that all three of there albums create a big story. Every song forms a part of this story...so its cool to find your own interpretation or get on the net and talk with other fans over a forum (www.cobaltandcalcium.com (http://www.cobaltandcalcium.com)) about the meaning. They also have Graphic Novels that visually explain the songs. The band has said that the songs can be taken individually however you want them to be, ya know...and you certainlly dont have to get into the art (GN)side of the band to like them. They put on a rockin show...usually when they play the Final Cut (a must hear) hell whip out the violin bow and start jammin like Zepplin use to. They are extremely diverse, if there is a song you dont like they play so many different style/songs that you can find something, thats why they are considered progressive i think...I like all the songs though, LOL.
Some must here songs include: Welcome Home, The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut, The Suffering, Favor House Atlantic, Ten Speed of Gods Blood and Burial, Crossing the Frame, Willing Well II, IN keeping secrets of silent earth (Killer song), Once upon your dead body, Lying lies..., Mother may i and those are mostly just from the new album. The new album is much different from the other albums for alot of reasons you really have to check out the whole body of work and then make your judgement but check out some stuff. I notice alot of Opiate type refrences too..check out the album cover below.

Coheed and Cambria Albums: Second Stage Turbine Blade, In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 and Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness---notice each album has a number, that is how you now where each album fits into the story. The first album Second Stage.... was the 2nd part all the way up to the current album which is the fourth part, which has a second volume coming out soon. Then they will release the part one, which is a prequel. Its pretty cool. The story is absolutely cool. There influences are Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Black Sabbath and more of the great bands we have come to love.
This is the cover of there latest album...its kinda funny its got a big IV symbol on it.

ive been a CP patient since i was 17 (im now 30) because of a bad head-on car accident (in which i was a passenger) that left me with a permant head & neck injury. for one, i now have debilitating migraines every week and some type of headach everyday. i was rear-ended a couple yrs after that, and again got T-boned by a truck that ran a stop sign in a parkinglot about 3 yrs ago which devestated my car to the point of no return and also left me with yet another permanent injury this time to my back. i also have MPS (myofacial pain syndrome), and CVID (common variable immunodeficiancy syndrom) in which i was born with but wasnt caught until i was 25 when it got really bad. it basically is a genetic disorder of the immune system that doesnt allow it to make IgG antibodies to fight off bacterial infections. ive had west nile once, and meningitis twice. now ive had 3 grand mal seizures since may of 04' the cause unknown. some are starting to think it maybe a after-effect of having meningitis since that is a possible and also common after effect. so heres my meds....my doc has tried me on all types of stuff, but now im on methadose 40 mg twice a day, actiq lollipops 600mug 4 x a day for BT pain, fioricet for BT migraines, soma, and some left over 30mg avinza i take once in a while if needed (24-hr acting morphine). im also on klonopin for seizures and anxiety. well, thats my story in a nutshell...ive tried almost every opiate there is excet opiate itself....

I use 320mg of Oxycontin and roughly 50mg of OxyIR per day, plus various other opiates including opium, morphine and hydrocodone, to control my severe chronic pain.

I need more. Kind people may send fentanyl, hydromorphine (dilaudid), and/or oxycodone pls kthx....I've got a ton of opium that needs a home ;-)

(This shall not consistute a solicitation under "The solicitation of illicit drugs or prescription pharmaceuticals is forbidden." I'm suggesting that people do things of their own free will, heh)

Hiya,

I am a newbie and I do indeed have CP... I had the three lowest discs in the back taken out when I was 19. I was in a BAD BAD car wreck when I was 30 and broke my back in 3 places, all of my ribs, severed my achiles tendon and everything in that local area; muscles, nerves, blood vessels, all you could see was the bone just above the foot, I also had a head injury and did not know my family for a long time I think 6 months, anyway, I flatlined 3 times and the night of the wreck used 4 pints of blood and then the next day during surgery they gave me 4 more pints. Now they want to do another back surgery and not only retake out the discs that were taken out less than 18 years ago, but take out 2 more for a total of 5 and I have intersistial cyctitis, edometreosis, some kind of nerve diease in my left foot and leg... the leg with the sewed together achiles tendon.. The doc called it RSP or RPS something like that.. I can tell you what it feels like it feels like someone is stabbing me with pins millons and millions of tiny pins all up and down my leg. Then the pain which radiates down my legs shoots down both my legs and in my hips like a lightning strike. When I shower the hot water feels like cold and cold like hot.... I am sure I am forgetting something else Oh yeah I have fibro and just got diagnosed with lupus.. My doc is a wonderful man, but I have only been seeing him for about three years and he gives me 2 100mg fentenal patches and he has me change them every 48 hours.. I know it says 72 on the package, but I know they do not last that long as you all prob do too..... He gives me klonopin for restless leg syndrome sh*t forgot bout that too.. He also gives me MSIR 30mg for the breakthrough pain, phenagren.... I feel for all of you as I do know how long it takes to find a good doctor who understands and my doc also does piss tests and I do not blame him one bit. He has helped me more than all of my surgeries, steriod injections and everything else and now my purpose is to try and keep my body from turning to dust and I also try not to fall into the rabbit hole....

Love, Alice

PS: This was my first post, sorry I rambled so much..

my heart goes out to everyone in chronic pain; whether your pain is under control or not, it's great to hear about everyone's situation (even if it's not the best). Remember: strength in numbers.

oh yea i forgot i also have 2 bleeding ulcers from taking way to many NSAIDS...i almost died a couple yrs back from loosing tpo much blood from them. i came home from a dctr visit, layed down, then started puking up large amounts of blood....i went into shock before my mom even took me to the hospital, but luckily they diagnosed the problem quickly and got me 2 units of blood then transfered me to a major hospital for about 4 or 5 days...so no more NSAIDS to help pain, all i got r narcotics....

Holy Loppin JESUS!

We need to change Halfalien's header to reader constantly opiated. My god I'm so sorry to hear about all the pain you have been through in your life. It's just obsurd.
I hope that your meds are sufficient. It sure seems that they would be but as we all know tolerance is a bitch and I cant even begin to imagine what WD's would be like for you. I would think certain death if you ended up in a spot where you had to go cold turkey.
I dont believe in it but God Bless Your Soul.

How do you mean EW, I thought you were ecstatic about being given Oxycodone which you wanted for so long. It sounds like for the most part that the poeple who are truly in pain are getting sufficiently taken care of. I mean how can 370 mg's of oxycontin daily be an example of the medical establishment fuckin with you?

I am not trying to sound like a dick, but I just wanna know what makes you so mad at the docs, I thought you were happy as a clam when your doc finally gave you Oxy?

My doc is much better than most, certainly. I am certainly better off on oxy than I was on morphine. I don't mean to sound at all ungrateful about that. My doc has been about as good as I could expect under this regime....but it's the regime, and the problems that many other sufferers have gone through (and I myself have gone through in the past before I found my current doc!), that I was talking about.

Was on 80mg methadone for approx. 10 years for permenant back/nerve damage L5-S1, arthistis set-in L4-S1 and has progressed thru-out rest of spine all the way to knuckles at times, health still was getting worse. Took myself off methadone switched to morphine as much as needed when needed, (was trial basis at first), health started getting better and used less drugs. But also changed lifestyle and refused to do most things. Everybody surprised and happy, including me! <g>
Oh yes it's 300mg to start with
