Tigan and opiates

If you're talking about taking Tigan w/ an opiate to potentiate the opiate's effects, then no (I take MS Contin 15mg and Percocet-5 daily and use Tigan for the nausea I get from the pain meds). Tigan is great for nausea, but it doesn't really help your high. If you want to boost your high, I suggest you look into Phenergan (generic: Promethazine). It is antihistamine with sedative properties, and it also potentiates the effects of opiates (mainly the euphoric properties). SWIM had experience with Phenergan and Dilaudid 4mg's. It made the 4mg's seem like 8mg. Hope this helps a bit.

Yea I was talking about potentiation. And I love Phenergan I never got to try it with my D's though because I haven't had it in a while. I'm about to get 6 D's in a few hours they'll probably be gone by Saturday and I'm pissed I thought my tolerance was lower than it is.

Tigan is the brand name and it is an antiemetic used to treat nausea and vomiting. It could possibly cause an additive effect when taken with an opiate or other CNS depressants, but I would imagine that this would be seen more often with those who have decreased tolerance to opiates.
In it's oral form, I doubt you would get an increased effect, but might if given by injection.

Tigan is usually administered IM(intramuscularly) when given by injection. Or it is given in oral or suppository form.
Just a note- Tigan should only be administered by IM injection. Do not use by IV injection if you should have it in an injectable form.

I must agree on the recommendation for Phenergan. Promethazine is some good stuff, especially for opiate withdrawal.

In my experience, Promethazine is actually BETTER than benzos at providing good sleep during opiate WD. And it provides a nice little buzz on its own, kind of a weird drunken feeling. It goes well combined with opiates too, although too much of it and you'll be passed out before you know it.

Promethazine is part of the phenothiazine family of drugs, in the tranquilizer class. Chlorpromazine (Thorazine) is in that same family of drugs. Unfortunately, Promethazine is Rx only.

Earlier this year I was borderline psychotic, full blown manic so I was taking Seroquel PRN, usually 50 to 100mg, sometimes as little as 25. Mixing that with my Methadone was a HUGE, ENORMOUS mistake. I nearly died. Apparently the problems associated with mixing them go far beyond the Qt prolongation they worry about.

I've OD'd three times in my life. This was the only life-threatening time, though. The two previous times involved taking too much. Once was hydrocodone; 10- 7.5's CWE'd. Stopped breathing, but I could do it on my own. It was real hard to stay awake, but I managed it with help from my fiance.

Other time was methadone. It was a terrible pain day, so I took my usually 20mg followed by 5 thirty minutes later. Two more hours I took another five. Went to walmart and took 10. Methadone is a tricky thing to dose for this sort of pain. When that last ten kicked in I started having breathing problems, but the biggest problem was feeling. My skin was entirely numb. I was out of pain, though.

This shit, as scary as it was, paled in comparison to this combo. I took 25 mg of done two hours before I took 50mg of seroquel. I never felt such things! 20 minutes later all I could feel was euphoria coursing through my body. I thought, "wow, this is one combo I'll have to use daily." 20 minutes later, though, my skin was numb. I do notice a little numbing with my usual dosing, but once you can feel a slap to your face, there's a problem.

I called ER that night; not 911, but ER, in an attempt to see if that was a known problem and what I should do. You know what they said? "If you begin to lose consciousness or stop breathing, call 911 and we'll deal with it then"

I think she didn't believe me. Probably just thought I was a junky who took too much and was borderline OD'd. Since I told her I was about an hour and a half post dosing with the seroquel, three.5 into the methadone, she probably thought I was lying. Most abused dope would be declining at that point, not getting stronger. Methadone increases into the fourth, and at the worst, the fifth hour. She probably thought I was already in the clear (and thought I was a liar on many counts).

If I had died or had to call 911, it'd have probably made for one hell of a Malpractice lawsuit. She probably got lucky then. hehe

My writing is a little rambly. Sorry. I started on my Adderall XR again recently. I split my doses, 2/3 when I wake, the other in the afternoon. I think I'm gonna ask about switching to an IR version of Amphetamine Sulfate for the afternoon dose. Anyway, I took my dose once I got it. I hadn't realized I'd been at the pharmacy for an hour. I work at a really boring job (sometimes really boring); I put books in order in a library. Since 90% of them are in order, I mostly just make sure they're where they belong. It's one of the most tedious tasks assigned to man, but thanks to the Library of Congress system, someone's got to do it. I thought I took it at noon, but it was actually one (as I found out when I got back to work- an hour late.). Still thinking I had three hour gap (the minimum I ever took adderall when I was on my previous 40mg daily dose)

My concentration gets bad when I take my mood stabilizer and Methadone doesn't help that either. I'm naturally kind of spacy. I don't think on my own I'd meet the criteria for attention deficit disorder. When I did got to a respected ADD doctor in the area per my psychiatrist's order (they work in the same building. "Keeping it in the family" I suppose. My money that is ;)
