I took naltrexone about 36 - 40 hours ago (1 tablet of 50mg) and I was wondering how much time has to pass to be safe to use opioids. Is there a way to make the effects of naltrexone wear off more quickly?

im not sure....but isnt it safe to use an opiate anyways? I mean wont it just not work as well? I think that if you are on a constant regimen for opiates and then if you take naltrexone it can throw you into withdrawal and that would be bad, real bad. For example someone on Methadone or Oxycontin wouldnt want to take naltrexone for obvious reasons. I dont know though, i guess there are some questions about this same topic that i would like answered too.

The fact is that if you have used any opium based drug (heroine, methadone etc) and take naltrexone while it is still in effect you will have withdrawal (and a very strong one) lasting from 5 minutes to 48 hours (as discribed in the enclosed leaflet of naltrexone - the commercial name for it in greece is Nalorex). Trust me I 've been there. My problem now is that i haven't used any opioids for about 10 days and discovered stached in my room 2 tablets of buprenorphine 2mg and I want to use them and not waste them, which will probably be the case if i use them before naltrexone wears off. Oh well they say patience is a virtue....

For anyone concerned I used 1 of the pills exactly 60 hours after taking the naltrexone and it worked perfectly, but since my resistance to opiates is very low at this time I would say that 72 hours is the safest bet!
