Oxymorphone HCI Anyone?

Check this out.. Some cool information to be had about the new ER Oxymorphone formulation that's been approved. I've allready been talking to my croaker about this and we're just waiting for it to be available. I can't freakin wait!!!

It's almost too good to be true! And look at the doses.. If anyone gets by the time release mechanism these are going to be positively mortal.

From what I understand Oxymorphone is only about 10% biavailable orally, which is why the large doses of these ER pills, but if you can inject these only a tiny amount of one pill will set even a lifer straight!

The existing IV Oxymorphone NUMORPHAN comes in two concentrations, 1 mg/mL, 1 mL ampul and 1.5 mg/mL, 10 mL vial of oxymorphone hydrochloride. While the OPANA comes in ER 5, 10, 20, and 40 (yes FOURTY) mgs!! And IRs in 5 and 10 mg!! :D

can't wait. just have to figure out away to tell my doctor I want this instead of the 90 mg of roxicodone I get prescribed. '' unfortunately'' because of the oral absorbtion rate , they will have to prescribe 10x more than I need. oh well. hey jab where in FL are you?

Wow! I wonder if my doctor would go for this.

The big thing is, this is probably a lot more expensive than generic Oxycodone/Oxycontin so until I get insurance, it's not an option and even when I do, God only knows whether the insurance will cover this new med. But I would love to try.

The dosages seem modest, but not as much smaller than I would have expected versus Oxycodone....unless those are actually very high doses of Oxymorphone (5mg and 10mg extended relesase?! would those be equal to 20 and 40mg OC or what?)

My doc doesn't seem too sharp on conversions. When he switched me from 60mg MS Contin to 80mg Oxycontin, I think he believed it was only a 20-30% dose increase. Not 100% like it actually is, plus the small boost from lack of cross-tolerance! That helped me get the kind of substantial boost in dosage that I actually needed, and maybe if I got my doc to move me from 80mg Oxycontin to 40mg Ocana-XR, he wouldn't realize that's actually a substantial increase in effective dosage (is that equal to an OC160 I think?).....

I truly cannot wait to get my greedy little hands on these little devils. Numorphan is next to impossible to get and even if you did, you most likely would not have a steady supply of it. But this Opana sounds like it's the next OxyContin. But, I'm not getting my hopes up. About a year ago the maker of Palladone (hydromorphone ER) withdrew the product because of interactions when the drug was taken with alcohol. Apparently alcohol dissolved the time release mechanism on the palladone resulting in all of the drug being released at once.

As for shooting, the time-release mechanism on the new Opana sounds almost foolproof. If you can shoot it, it's going to take a little bit of effort no doubt.

But being that I have always wanted to try oxymorphone, when the occassion arises, I will try the new Opana. Hopefully the immediate release tablet.

That's the good thing about this...it come in an immediate release formulation as well as an extended release.

I hvae been on the 5mg IR for about 3 months (120 per month). They suck orally, are pretty good intransally, better than roxis in my opinion--better overall euphoria than roxis if you do enough of the Opana. Snorting about 15mgs at once is very nice, 25mgs at once and I am in opi bliss. It is just a lot of pwoder though, like 200mgs of powder for every 5mg of the oxymorphone, but there is no burn at all, very smooth. I am going to aks doc for increase to the 10mgs next month. I got switched to the opana from percocets--told him they weren't doing the job anymore, was hoping for a switch to roxi, bummed I got the Opana at first but now happier that I got hose instead of the roxis, but i have been on one form or another of oxycodone for years so maybe it just the change to something different that has me feeling so nice.

Samsong, do you also take the ER too? I get the ER with Roxi's every month. I snort the ER's.. 40mg and have found them to work great that way. Works with the pain and the time release doesn't seem to be affected. 1 or 2 40mg ER's snorted will last me a good 12 hours at least. Not sure how... I mean, what does it do, just stay up there in my nose and releases slowly through my mucus membranes? I used to get it sliding down the back of my throat, gelled up like a loogie (sorry for the sick analogy), but once I learned to get it up there far enough, it doesn't do that anymore.

It should be. Oxycodone is metabolized by the digestive system into Oxymorphone. But I just cannot help it... All this talk about oxymorphone has me thinking of NEEDLES! IV baby, that's the only way to go with Hydromorphone or Oxymorphone.

I'm so sober, and I bet there are thoudsands of people digesting and wasting oxymorphone as I type.

Reddraggon--my long acting med is fent,, 50mcg x 15 per month. They last about 7-10 days. Then I move to pods and railing the opana 5mg IRs. I don't want to give up the fent yet so don't want to move to opana er. I am dying to IV these ir's though, from what I understand it is very easy. Just not ready to have two major habits though (smoke fent and iv'ed opana)--that would more than likely end very badly for my wife and kids, right now I do very well with what I am doing, never sick, productive and happy for most of the month. Had surgery last month and was hooked up to a dilaudid drip for 2 days, and every so often I would rail 10-15mgs of my opana and man, that was a nice few days.

That is pretty cool you get 12 hours though out of that method--maybe the er mechanism is making itlast longer somehow. I need to re-up with the IR's every 4 hours or so to maintain, which reminds me.....
