i just had a prolonged arguement with an old friend about marijuana.. now being an 'ex-cultivator' ;). i have picked up a few bits of knowledge along the way..

first off, he says that ANY MARIJUANA GROWN OUTSIDE is shwagg.. now from personal experience, i prefer growing outdoors because the sun is better than any light you can purchase. plants also grow larger outdoors, resulting in increased yeild

he also said the only way you can grow "dro" is indoors.. apparently. i think it depends on what you think the word "dro" means. if it means hyDROponics then yes, it CAN be grown indoors, but it can be grown outdoors as well, in an outdoor hyDROponic system. ive personally seen this in action. BUT what im ASSUMING he ment by dro, was quality marijuana.

from personal experience, plants grown in a hydroponic system, indoors, really only tend to grow faster, and dont taste as good. to me anyways..

is there any growers, 'ex' growers out there that can verify these things for me and to reassure me that im not an idiot. thx

i grew for some years so maybe i can offer some input

potency potential is going to depend mainly on the strains genetics, though some strains will perform better indoors vs. outdoors, or are better suited for different climates. but saying that all weed grown outdoors is schwagg is just retarded. I would have loved to have been able to grow outdoors but I have yet to have the opportunity. True the sun is the best light that could never be purchased. But the thing with growing indoors is that you can pretty much play mother nature. You can control your environment as far as temps, and humidity, force flowering by going 12/12 on the lights, and you can control pests, mold, etc.

People where i'm from refer to anything that doesn't have seeds as "dro", and it commands at least $100 a quarter ounce whether it's really that good, grown hydroponically, organic or whatever.
True you can grow hydroponically outdoors. It's pretty rare though for the fact that extra effort has to be made to keep the nutrient solution at a cool enough temperature. If the nutrient solution gets above a certain temp. then root rot is inevitable. Plus if you're gonna grow outdoors might as well do it right and go all the way organic the way mother nature intended.

As far as taste goes. Most people swear that organic buds taste so much better than chemically grown hydroponic buds. There's some other fators involved with taste though, the biggest one being if the bud has had a proper cure. Me, myself, I can only tell the difference between chemical hydro buds and organic buds if someone points it out to me.

Me, myself i've never grown in dirt. Always hydroponically in what the call DWC (Deep Water Culture) aka Bubble Buckets. I've done regular chemical hydro and also organic hydro (which is an organic nutrient solution instead of a chemical solution)

Both of your friends statements are retarded. Yes good bud can be grown outdoors and yes you can grow hydroponics outdoors.

swim is an avid grower. swim is also 100% legal medical ect ect.
agree w/ lucky 13 100%

1. outdoor can rival and be better than indoor. all about strains! love that free light!
indoor lights are getting better and better tho - one day they may actually be better than the natural but never cheaper!
2. swim has grown lots of hydro and in swims experience - it would be pretty hard to pull off 100% hydro (or of what i would consider traditional hydro setup; ie rockwool and flood tables) outside but it can be done. there are so many different mediums and setups that i bet even true aeroponics can be done outside easily now!
imo a greenhouse situations would be ideal for hydro.
i would consider that 1/2 inside and 1/2 outside :)
3. yes hydro grows ALOT faster but i can be just as sweet - its amazing what you can do when you are controlling 100% of what is coming in and out of the roots.
most people 'burn' the poor things b/c more nutrients dont always equal better buds
4. a lot of people do refer to 'dro' as just some potent buds but it doesnt mean shit
you can always shake your head yes as not to confuse your poor friend- but you seem to have a good idea whats really going on

this 'indo' smells more like 'outdo'
lol
anyways - swim could talk about growing all day!!!!!

Totally dependent on genetics. This misconception has arisen because most schwag is grown outdoors either in Mexico or in National Parks/Forests stateside because obviously, space is the main issue for that mass-grown crap (really no different from pesticide-sprayed vegetables from big factory farms when you think about it). With the proper amount of care applied to the right strains outdoor can be as scrum-diddly-umptious as the best indoor. Indeed, I have experience with real crap indoor stuff and fan-fucking-tastic headies grown out in the wilderness.
