Yea you don't have a problem with it. I just don't think when in competition something of that nature aught to fly, if you are in competition at least. Average person yea sure, no prob, but a pro athlete, that bothers me.
I was just surprised because most people dont like the idea of steroids, that I know. And Canseco is a horrible pathetic snitch.

its all about which and what steroids...
people that make millions playing sports, with access to Dr's and probably great insurance as well as workmans comp or salary agreements....should probably have their shit looked at with a microscope....its all about fair play.
being scripted steroids myself for pain, I realized very quickly that some steroids are key to healing quick, and for helping to end pain for swelling...man, the steroids are great.
but obviously the intent with these pro players is different probably much of the time.
its a rather unscientific consideration to try and control someones diet, and supplements/medicines/drugs, the way they are going about it. it leaves I think the option to experiment with all sorts of things as an obvious way of getting an edge on the competition, or at least ones own homostasis and muscle crafting.
are we going to start seeing people having their muscles cloned on moving machines that then are attached in surgical procedures?
I dont know enough about steroids to know if scripted steroids for injury might give a player a short term edge.
and or if Dr's and players might bend rules about how long they need said steroids.
I know its big business in all directions , there is probably a bigger market in "research chemical" steroids than there is with grey market research chemicals.
I am sure that the controls on the synthetic steroids will encourage companys to do more phytochemical assay research.
a few years ago I wrote Shulgin about a certian plant, an acacia rigidula plant from texas.
it was reported to contain all sorts of compounds, nicotine, mescaline, tryptamines, phenylethylamines, toxins, piperadine type compounds etc etc etc.
an amazing abundance of trace substances, including some amphetamines known only previously as synthetic.
Shulgin wrote that he has debated that the chemical work might have been skewed by the researchers.
anyway, interest in the plant has been around since the publication of two papers regarding the plant and a close relative, as being toxic cattle and livestock feeding agents.
a few years ago I noticed that a company is now using acacia rigidula as a proprietary ingredient in a dietary supplement aimed at the sport/weight lifting crowd.
so that whole user population is probably driving a good degree of the ethnobotanical research that is being done with some species. I think those companies however just shelf the info, and market the product before they would ever share their chemical work, and probably only then, to make some outrageous or bogus claim based on dubious or even solid research into bioactive qualities of said substance.
what a fucking mess its going to be 10-20 years in the future as more and more synthetic analogs are discovered, more and more natural compounds are discovered that can be used as doping agents.

I dunno I can't get worked up about it. I mean you could juice me up all you want and I am still not going to hit a homer in the majors. Steroid use can add muscle mass but they aren't a substitute for talent or hard work. He's the hitting coach for the Cardinal's now isn't he? Maybe that's why he came clean now. I recently came across a Barry Bonds Baseball card from like 1989 and he was really scrawny back then. It's funny. You can lift and bulk up but you can't fill out as much as he and McGuire did and pretend like it's natural.

The sad thing is, once sports started going down this road, and it has been for decades, there is no going back. With the amount of money offered for first round draft picks, steroids has been part of the college sport scene for some time, with athletes forced to use if they wished to be competitive. Now it has gotten into high school sports as athletes are picked up at ever earlier time lines. What is next - Jr High Schools? Ouch.

True. I have used steroids on a number of occasions and although they made me bigger and stronger I was never able to compete at any high level of athletics. Truth is there are guys like Bonds, Clemens, A-Rod, who would be phemoninal ball players with or without juice, they wouldn;t be AS GOOD or be able to play AS LONG, but they still would be studs..guys like McGwire, Canseco, Camenetti I don't think would have made AAA ball without gear...
