If you have items seized by the border patrol will they legally do anything to you? Also, what happens if your a repeat offender?

of course! if you're a u.s. citizen you'll be charged with possession and probably with smuggling. i'm sure it depends largely on the amount. if you're not a u.s. citizen you'll be deported. if you're deported from the u.s. to mexico because of a felony, the authorities will be waiting for you when you get off the plane. as for canada, i'm not sure.

I have never heard of anyone getting into any trouble or prosecuted at all for a siezed package... I suppose if it is a large quantity of an illegal substance they may take action. The only thing I ever heard of happening with it is receiving custom's little "love notes" saying something along the lines of "We confinscated a package with questionable material in it being shipped to you". I have heard of alot of people getting alot of packages confinscated, and I never once heard of anyone getting into legal trouble over it... probably a good way to get your name "in the system" though.

edit - Karma, do you know of people personally that have been prosecuted or deported for a customs siezure?

I believe he means if you are physically crossing the border with contraband. In that case I would suspect some legal action.

yes, i meant if you're crossing and something's found in your car. maybe i misunderstood the question. but if you're having something sent to you and it gets taken, that's not border patrol, but customs. a completely different animal.\

and no, i don't know anyone personally who's been in trouble for customs siezures. but i do know of instances of border patrol seizures.

I was once going into BC canada with a friend and we had about $3000 on us in a POS car. they seperated us and asked us questions. Well a part of our storie's were different so I figured they were going to really look into our backrounds, so I told them I had a DWI which I should not have because they won't let you in with one. After that they still proceded to tear my car apart good thing al our shit was gone and double checked. 3 hours later, the border patrol mounties said they were done with us after that they sent us into they custom's building. They then told me they could arrest me for trying to get in. I then asked him why they tore my car apart(which I had to put back) for 3 fucking hours. Because of my choice of words, he got in my face and threatened to lock me up. So I backed down. once heading back into the states there was a duty free store so I figured might as well buy some SoCo and smokes cheap. Still mouthy I bitched to the duty free clerk about how much border patrol sucks, she then told me I couldn't buy anything then b/c I didn't come from Canada. Well after all that, my guess is that either border if they find shit on you or the car they will charge you unless you are really lucky.

wow, i always thought canadians were so much nicer than americans. i guess it shows me for holding such generalized opinions. man, you give a normal, nice person a job where he has some authority over other, fellow humans and pretty soon that normal, nice person turns into a fucking obnoxious, Rayban-wearing son of a bitch.

was the mounty wearing the red uniform, with the black wide-brimmed hat and all? i always thought that such a ridiculous uniform would prevent officers from developing that power complex. i guess it's not so easy.

... and yet still, i wonder if the answer to that power complex thing (i live in LA where the police power complexes are at least as developed as anywhere in the developed world) might be found in the uniform. what if you made police dress like the girls at "hotdog on a stick"? i don't know if that's a california thing so let me find a picture...

I live on the border and have crossed benzos, codeine, bup, stadol, etc. without a problem for years. The trick is “declare them”, use a plastic bag from the pharmacy and let it be in plain sight.

Here is the drill;

Border patrol agent: Nationality!

Citizen: American

Border patrol agent: Bringing anything back?

Citizen Yes sir, I have my medication.

Border patrol agent: waves you through.

If you are dressed well, confident and use sir in your vocabulary, most of the time they won’t even look at the Meds. If they do look at them and is in the above list, less than a months supply is legal with a Mexican prescription, 90 day supply is legal with American prescription.

And if by chance you are bringing back a Schedule II, if you declare it the most they can do is say is “you can’t bring this across” and then you can choose the let them keep it or turn around with your drugs and go back.

yeah, someone i know crossed over the border with soma's before, no problem
but forgot to declare codeine and valium, and they tried stiffed her with a 450 dollar fine
and a trip to thier special "search you entierly room"
they didn't even get to see her ID(which she lost in mexico)
(since they started searching before checking)
in the room, they had another door, far end of hallway to amerika..
while searching her and taking all the undeclareds in a bag, they brought in a top 10 watned suspect
(a guy she saw on a poster on the wall) who was of lantio decent...
so they moved her closer to the door, and when the guy got angry...they all swarmed on him...

needless to say, she grabbed her bag they confinscated and head out the american door as fast as she could to her motorcycle....no one noticed...then again, this guy was stab you in the eye for a grape, or even a piece of lint violent...
though, she knows a camera saw her exit building(not vehicle) and they never saw her ID
needless to say, she headed back to her home state of colorado never to be seen at the border again

of course i'm lying ;) this didn't happen to me (i'm a guy) and is just an old druggie lullaby;)

Completely OT, but hotdog on a stick's cheese dogs (no hot dog, just stick, cheese (pepper jack or american) and fried batter) are amazing... MMmmmmm....

there's really a restaraunt called 'Hotdog on a Stick'? ha, that's great.
Definitely takes the cake for most unoriginal name ever, though.

What beav has done in the past is take empty prescription bottles with your name and a reasonable date on them and fill em up with any type of business you want. it is a rare (and dark) day when some border patrolman will realize you got a bottle of Cephalexin or Amoxicillin filled to the brim with Watson's

I got a love letter today. It said it was for a "Codeine Combination Product 90" but it was pure codeine. strange. You know what pure codeine is good for?

They sent me a pretty flier saying don't get my meds online/overseas too! I'm so proud.

I has personally crossed from Mexico back to the USA with pockets full of soma's, valium's, hydro's, and some Oxy's. The trick is when you are asked if you are declaring anything, show them something. Like I always make a joke also, I go into my pockets and show them a couple packs of smokes, and then I say I drank all your cervezas. Something along those lines. It has to do with attitude, if you are scared, they will smell it. If you seem like you have nothing to hide, they will most likely pass you thru.

I have only done this on foot, never with my car. This was also years ago, I know they put that X-ray machine up and I havnt been back since then and dont ever plan on it. If it is for personal use, your more than likely gonna end up with a fine.

I have read on the US Customs website a year or 2 ago, that you are allowed to bring medication back for personal use, but you must limit it to 50 pills per person. I will try to find that again but I remember it being linked to on another forum. It only pertains to the schedule that has vicodins (schedule IV?) but not to oxys (III?). However. someone in line in front of me had pills last time I crossed and they were taken away and the guy was yelled at. I think the BP guy was having a bad day, he weas being rude to everybody.

I've done it at Tiajuana in the middle of the day, on foot, and it was easy. I was with my uncle (who was "shopping" too) and we had no problems. We "americanized" ourselves to the point of nausea... my unk had on a fanny pack (yikes!) and an "I love San Diego" t-shirt, and some goofy ass shorts.. I too was wearing goofy plaid shorts, had my nike hat on and I think a Dallas t-shirt. The trick is to look so fucking american tourist-y that no one would suspect anything. It also helps to have a fuckload of bags, like you were a good paying visitor...

And always do it on foot to mexico, and then coming back to the us, a loophole lets bicycles through where cars go, so you can rent a bike for $5 and ride it across, past all the cars.

ICE rarely stops the bikes from what I could tell the few times I've been. It saves you several hours, and you just get glanced over on the way across. Works best for me.

I have read on the US Customs website a year or 2 ago, that you are allowed to bring medication back for personal use, but you must limit it to 50 pills per person.

You will hear a different number everytime, and I'm sure there are people here that are positive of their numbers too. I am looking this up right now, and will try to find the answer. I've looked before with no luck.
