This is going to be fun to watch with my little one. She loves Tim Burton movies, and anything that's dark, or scary. We've watched "Coreline" like 20 times now. I liked that one A lot but my personal favorite is still "Spirited Away". The first time we rented it I was pretty dope sick but the movie was so cool it made me feel better. For me it's pretty obvious that a good movie can get the natural endorphins flowing.
When you have kids you have to watch all the kid movies. My daughter grew out of the Disney Princess shit by the time she was 5 years old. She likes some pretty cool stuff, so it's not bad at all when I take her to the theater, or rent one with her.
I'm going to take her to see "where The Wild Things Are" and this new Alice. I'm looking forward to both of 'em.
Has anybody else seen "Coreline"?

Aw PapaSan how was "where the wild things are"? I KNOW if I saw it I'd be the wuss crying in the theatre...
Alice in Wonderland always creeped me out.. idk, I just hate how Alice was trapped in Wonderland or w/e.. it just reminded me of a bad nightmare that you can't wake up from..
Now Johnny Depp, he's hot, I love anything he;s in, he just seems like a really interesting guy.. ha ha, my dad once, was kind of buzzed on day, and he was all "I'd go gay for Johnny Depp!" ha ha ha
Anyone remember that tv movie they did in the 80's? this was kind of scary for something that was supposed to be for little kids.. idk, like I said above, Alice in Wonderland just always gave me really bad/yucky feelings
this was the end(I think), and really kind of scary- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7dxhbHAGRE
here's the trailer for the new Alice in Wonderland movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeWsZ2b_pK4&feature=related

Ah Citricburn, I was watching Brazil with a boyfriend and I remember we just couldn't get it (Who knows I was probly high and couldn't be bothered). Was it good? I do remember reading how it was a movie ahead of its time...

Yeah that's a very cool movie. One of his best. 3d was neat too. My girl has been entranced by Burton's movies since she was 2. I used to set the tv and vcr up for her when I went to bed so all she had to do was stick a tape in in the morning. Like all kids she had dozens of vids but she almost always picked nightmare before christmas which I actually bought for myself. I figured she would find it too creepy but nope that was her fave. She's 13 now and I've got my fingers crossed she doesn't go goth on me.

My current favorite is "Sweeney Todd". The music in that movie is so haunting, it really stuck with me.

I'll admit I am apt to dig a burton film, but 9 was awful. Awful. Full stop.
I've got a bit of a vendetta against him since 9, and I'll admit to it being intensely personal. That mothafucka's gotta' pay.

Let me start by saying I too am a burton fan. I thought 9 was ok. Not one of his best but watchable.
I was very excited about alice in wonderland.....that is, until I saw those pictures. What the hell did they do to the mad hatters character??? Johnny Depp looks ridiculous. Totally not what I picture when I picture the mad hatter. The mad hatter being one of my favorite characters it pretty much ruins it for me.
The film will obviously be visualy stunning. Especially in HD. I may watch it for that reason. I never thought I would see a movie that I hated johnny depps character in.

That photo of JD makes me wonder if he'd have made People's SMA had the movie already come out! LOL.
Yeah, I am looking forward to this one. Lewis Carroll is right up our alley, right, OPs? I always loved the John Tenniel drawings, myself.
I'm not such a big Burton fan, in general. His movies look pretty, but the stories don't really hold me. My favorite Burton films aren't usually his fans' choices: Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice, Cabin Boy (producer...yes, it is a retarded movie. Let's get retarded!), and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Grace liked Coraline a lot. I am so sick of all this vampire shit, but I was excited to hear Burton is adapting Dark Shadows for the screen, with Johnny Depp as the vampire Barnabas Collins. That was a cool soap opera, for true.
Speaking of Tim Burton movies, a friend of mine had his skull fractured at an X show at the Galaxy in Santa Ana (someone fell on his head in a mosh pit). The bouncers carried him outside and just dumped him. It took me more than an hour after the show to find him. He was in the hospital for a while, and rested at home some time before having people over. As his mobility was limited, someone suggested a movie. It turned out to be Sleepy Hollow. A few (quick) decapitations into that film, T-Bone excused himself and crawled back to bed! LOL...not the best choice of Tim Burton movies, under the circumstances.
