Not sure where else to put this. But I had fun doing it. Skull was done with a fine point sharpie, dot by dot. The thicker areas I used a normal sharpie. Then adding words in photoshop to suit this website. The pointillism drawing is a bit blurry because of my crappy camera.

Damn good work Robothanded. Must have took a while. I miss doing things like this, where you can pass a whole day working on a piece of art.

Who is the lady with Elliot Smith in your avatar?

cool! I'm jealous of people with great artistic talent... did you do an outline of the skull or somethin first before just dots???

i have musical talent - i really should revive it. I'm into classical music - u know, playin in orchestras etc.. I think that would be myideal job/career. I used to want to join the army band - kick ass pay for play and perks for playin wind band music all day, plus they give u awesome instrument... Bad part is u hv to do the 12 wk army training first i think...

do u do your artwork just as hobby??

what orchestral inst do you play Queenie?
Clarinet.
The town i went to schooo at had a kick arse band program. All the primary school 4th graders were hearing tested, then the top 20 in each school were started on either woodwind or brass depending on the swchool - then they taught us 3 times a week, and got all the school groups together once every 3 months, and you audition every year for primary concert band, senior concert band - depending on age - and they practice twice a week at nights and we did all kinds of performances and everything. It was great - it went right thru until yr 12. Excxept i was so ripped off - the whole time i was playin first clarinet but 2nd seat - so the chick in front of me got to do all the solos and stuff - and she was SOOOO SHIT!! it was only cos her dad was mates with the band program manager - anyway, she was a year older than me, so my yr12 year when i finally got to be solo clarinet, seriously had been working for it for YEARS - the public schools had a protest or whatever u call it, so they didn't run the extra parts of band progrm for 8 months or something (incl the senior concert band), So i only got to be solo clarinet for a couple months :( funny i'm still dirty about it!!

Anyway what i was gonna say is i WISH my school had been brass. Woulda loved to play trumpet or trombone - although don't think my mouth great for trumpt. did play trombone for awhile
Used to go to all those holiday music camps and stuff too - i loved it, some of them were amazing.... And we toured places - Taiwan etc.

i got a buffet R13 and C12 - they better than those... do you play?? i bought a real nice R13 cheap - $900 from a crazy old guy - only prob was he smoked like a chimney and the thing just REAKED and couldn't get it out... I had real trouble selling it.. First time i advertised a guy offered us $2000 and we said nah - if first guy offered us that we not in hurry, just see for abit longer - wish i hadn't - then had REAL trouble sellling it and had it for years and finally sold it to some shop in Sydney for $1000... it was worth heaps more..

I wouldn't mind a A clarinet so that i can play in more orchestras...???

Yeah it's just a hobby. and yes, I used light pencil for an outline of the skull. My friend who's an art major, puts this to shame. I adore his original artistic skills. Some people are born with the ability to put their imagination on paper, but it only goes so far. Anyone can be trained to draw good/ be a good artist.

The girl in the av is Mary Lou Lord.

Thanks for the kind words, everybody!

Good work, RH.

Just out of curiosity, where did you start the drawing? (Which part?)

And, do you always start drawing faces (with or without skin) in the same part?

I find it interesting...I almost always start with the eyes, if I'm doodling, and friends of mine who draw tell me they do the same (although some might start with the nose, or mouth, etc.)

Do you do any hand-lettering? It can lend a nice touch.

Peace,

d

I start with an outline of the head, make notes where eyes and the nose will be with hardly visible lines, then start filling them in with more and more detail as I see fit. It's actually kind of the same with every drawing of that I'd do, i suppose. I don't have much experience with hand-lettering, which is why I cheated and used Photoshop for the words. I couldn't imagine it being extremely difficult, just more time consuming.
