I read on here that tramadol can be harmful to the liver. Obviously anything in high amounts can be problematic to the liver, I myself take varying levels of tramadol, never going above 400mg in a 5 hour period. I have kept to this for about 3 months. Never had a seizure or anything, really no side affects at all. Also I take zoloft and only recently I read that SSRI's and tram can interact negatively. I take zoloft nightly at the same time but I take tramadol at least 6 hours beforehand. Thanks in advance.

unless you have a pre-existing liver condition or are taking insanely high doses often I wouldn't be too worried.

I was hoping the 400mg in a 5hr period was a typo

About a yer and a half ago I was abusing tramadol, big time, and YES it can be abused. Here in Michigan it isn't considered a control substance so I was calling in my own prescriptions, and presciptions under others names as well (diff story, long one), Anyways I was taking about 40-50 (50 mg) daily and I had four grand mal seizures. Never had one before nor had anyone in my family. Granted I was taking waaaaay too much but they do lower your seizure threshold.

Think that stopped me tho? Hell naw. INTEREVENTION time, again, from my fam. They are getting good at it too.

yes, i myself made the mistake once of staying up all night not being able to sleep on the synthetic receptor tickler and had a nice grand mal seizure. drank a nice big cup of espresso with the intention of staying up til that night and next thing i know im making friends with a paramedic and start realizing whats going on mid-sentence with a big 'WTF?!?!'.. get your sleep kidds and dont use tramadol recreationally unless you intend to potentiate another opie slightly with it. yick.

Tramadol can have a large negative impact on the most important part of your body, the brain. Seizures are dangerous, and should not be treated lightly. You can injure yourself in numerous ways with tramadol, and the liver is one of the organs that wouldn't be greatly affected. Be careful with tramadol, and if you can stop taking it.

you should probably find some other opiate to fulfill that need, as you are taking way more than is needed to cause a seizure, and as suzie has verified for you, it can happen and does quite often.

i've had a grand mal before, and they are very scary. i had been using cocaine for over two years before it happened, yet that was the root cause of the seizure.

i believe you would be definitely doing yourself a favor if you attempted to stop taking tramadol, or use another opiate... especially with another SSRI in your system regularly, it doesn't matter if you take it 5 hours beforehand or not, because by the time you have been on them for a period of time they are in your system and you body becomes dependent on them. Seratonin Syndrom is very scary and life-threatening, and it is mainly caused by combining seratonin inhibiting medication. please be careful.

It is one of the most dangerous combos out there...

Seriously, I have no idea about tramadol and human organs.

That combination equals the organ solo of The House of the Rising Sun.

50 in one day?!? Oh wow! The most I've taken in one day was 15 50mg and my muscles started twitching and that alone scared the shit out of me! I couldn't imagine having a seizure! Now I WILL NOT take more than 8 in a day and I'll only do that to ease withdrawals.
