I think that aporphine is also called nuciferine. I have heard of apomorphine occuring in another closely related type of nymphea species, the white leaved type ,that they found apomorphine in the roots. I have tried blue lotus extracts that I made myself for opiate cross tolerance, and didnt notice much either.

a quick web search turns up some interesting info on apomorphine, UPRIMA is a sublingual tanlet with apomorphine for the treatment of erectile disfunction. so perhaps we will start hearing from erecto-deficient opiophiles that notice interaction with or cessation from the need for opioids when using their sexual disfunction medication. Apperantly the drug is also being used as a parkinsons medication.

Burroughs tried using Apomorphine for a 'kick', it didnt work.Actually, what I think you're trying to say is the WSB used Apopomorphine TO kick (as in kick junk.) He swore as to this being a cure until later in life, when he again became addicted and moved on to methadone until he died.

You can find more on this here: http://www.erowid.org/culture/characters/burroughs_william/burroughs_william_article1.shtml

Dr. John Yerbury Dent, gone now these several years, was the one that William Burroughs says cured him of his addiction. Did it with apomorphine. Its chemical structure is very much like morphine but different enough that the nauseating effect is emphasized. But it isn't the nauseating effect that does the job, Burroughs says, but that it is a metabolic stabilizer. He doesn't understand why it hasn't been more widely used.

Burroughs paper on apomorphine is pretty cutting edge i think, and he did use the substance to his advantage, the apomorphine aided kick was succesful. too bad it never worked into theraputic protocol in the U.S. A person might experience some relief if using apomorphine for sexual reasons AND withdrawing from opiates at the same time no?? I wonder how hard it is to get a prescription for apomorphine? anyone know? with all the human variable reactions to drugs and therapys we need as many different approaches to augmenting withdrawl effects as possible, not just 3-4 different routes. burroughs did go back to opioids no doubt, but who amoungst us wouldnt? we opiophiles that is. what we are interested in is if apomorphine helps acute addiction, the KICK. it appears from burroughs paper that apomorphine is exceptionally good for abating withdrawl effects. it does not have the purported 3 month support period that ibogaine is sometime linked to, but as a short term tool for addiction therapys, apomorphine might be something to look at at least. apomorphine may be addictive in its own right as it is a dopamine agonist.......
