maybe twice a year i get a real craving to bang my dope. might be a song or a movie/documentary that sparks it but i only do occasionally.

tonight was one of those nights.

so i go to pharm #1. ask for a bag of 28g insulin syringes. guy tells me i need a prescription. i ask him when did syringes require a script. he backtracks a bit and says i need an insulin script. i ask him if hes sure about that and hes getting a little uncomfortable so i back off. theres a few pharms around, ill try the others.

pharm #2. we dont sell syringes period. i ask if they carry insulin. she says yes. so i say how are you supposed to administer the insulin? she clams up and says i need a script. i say my girlfriend is visiting from college and she asked me to pick some up and that shes gotten them from a phar w/o a script before. she starts getting defensive/angry so i decide to leave since i have dope on me and i dont want no trouble.

pharm #3
same deal. the guys says we dont sell syringes. i said this is a pharmacy right? if you dont sell them who does? he maintains his we dont sell them stance. i KNOW they do. i tell him he needs to tell me where they DO sell them bc my girlfriend is at my house and i was pretty sure she NEEDED me to bring them back. hes nervous now and he says he doesnt know. i feel like im intimidating him so i leave.

pharm #4
by now, ive convinced myself that my girlfriend really is a diabetic and her life depends on me getting her pins for her. ive bought them at this pharm a few months ago so im pretty confident here.
she says no. not without a prescription. i said, ive bought them here before im sure of it. the pharmacist told me i could buy a pack of 10. my gf is visiting and she forgot hers, ive been to three other pharms and im concerned that if she doesnt get her med tonight something bad could happen to her.
she says its against the law. i say its not, she can sell me 10 and ive bought them at that same pharmacy before and im sure of it. i ask her if the other pharmacist was breaking the law when she sold them to me.

then she tells me its up to the pharmacists discretion. i say well good, so ill take 10 insulin syringes. she says no. then i lose it. after all, my gfs life is on the line here.

i ask her if shes accusing me of being a drug addict. she says no, you are. i said what? if its up to your discretion and you are choosing not to sell them to me you must think im a drug user. she walks away. i continue yelling. i tell her if my gf dies im not inviting her to the funeral. im pissed.

i feel like im making a scene. i leave. dissapointed. and snort my dope at home in the bathroom.

sorry. im all fired up. even if i was a drug user, why wouldnt they just sell them? by the time someone is buying rigs to shoot dope i doubt not selling them is going to stop them. well. i guess it did. but fuck em anyway.

oh well

i want to walk in tomorrow and tell her my gf had to go to the hospital and almost died. i wont though.

That is complete fucking bullshit. I don't see why some of these people in the medical profession love to 'play god' and feel they have some real power over us 'junky scum'.

ANYONE WHO DOESNT SUPPORT THE PRACTICE OF HARM REDUCTION IS A FUCKING MORON AND A PIECE OF SHIT!!!!

IGNORANT FUCKING SCUM! That's what these pharmacists are! Ignorant fucking scum, pieces of fucking filth who do not deserve to fucking live. It's just fucking sick to think about the fact that these people are partly to blame for the spread of preventable disease like HIV and hep. FUCKING SCUM.....

SOrry you had to deal with that.

I'd write a nice and polite but firm letter of complaint. Address it to the owner of the pharmacy and/or their closest headoffice. Pharmacists rarely own the individual stores, and the people that actually own then are more concerned about $$ and a possible lawsuit than a pos pharmacist.

Collect some used syringes (in a safe container) do not re-cap them, when filled, go to your "favorite" pharmacy and go to the counter and dump them on the floor (try to get some on the counter top too).

Get out of Dodge.

m5s-- The thing doesn't let me rep you ("spread it around"), but.... Just want to say-- I really dig your sense of humour...

> by now, ive convinced myself that my girlfriend really is a diabetic and her life depends on me getting her pins for her.

Thats awesome-- waging a city-wide campaign of fear against all the pharmacies he can find...
BUT.. That sucks.. those bastards didn't give you any spikes... No needle exchange in town?

Later yo... :)

i never had any trouble buying syringes from any pharmacy cept walgreens
even places that used their discretion  to not sell to other folks would sell to me
and it was more than obvious that i was a junkie
a lot of real drug-warrior pharmacists will sell rigs to hookers
i guess so we don't spread diseases among their husbands or somethin :)

if i wasnt such a lazy drug addict i would totally write up a nice professional letter and send it to them. i would even include the part about my gf having to go to the ER in diabetic shock. i would also add a what if i was a drug addict section. i would ask what is wrong with someone wanting clean, sterile syringes to use so they dont catch or spread diseases? what is the purpose of a pharmacy/pharmacist?

i might actually do it.

is anyone a diabetic? if so could you tell me specifically what happens if you dont take insulin in time? also what is the name of the medication, dosage? i want to be specific here. i will also include a copy of the state syringe law if i can find it and state that they might want to train their pharmaists/techs on the law regarding. it might be a good thing for a pharmacist to know

the "up to the pharmacists discrection" thing is bullshit. so basically if the pharm doesnt like the way you look, youre shit outta luck. if a homeless black daibetic walked up to the counter fuck him. he can go slip into a diabetic coma in his cardboard shack right? and clean cut johnny buisness suit junky gets a "here you are sir, would you like some free test strips?" i mean i can totally understand not selling them to black people because theyre all junkies but me? im white! wtf?

maybe we can collaborate on a letter (ie someone else do it) and ill mail it to every pharmacy in my area.

BTW
thanks at&t. i was dubbed "most humorous" in my 8th grade yearbook. its pretty much the only thing ive ever "won" so i have a hard time letting it go. i wish they gave me a trophy or something.

there probably is an exchange in the city over but it was kinda late and its not that big of a deal for me. i just was pissed that i know they can sell me 10 and they wouldnt. i dont look like a junky either. at least i dont think i do.

GnD
im going to get a corpse from the morge and carry it in and dump it on the counter and say "here! shes youre fucking problem now!".... swear to baby j ;)

Here in jersey, you can't get any pins without a script, so I've never actually had to attempt to buy them from a pharmacy, and I can see how frustrating it could be if I had to. I usually stock up on pins via online sources, as they're super cheap, and extremely discreet. Honestly, I think thats definitely the best bet, as long as you have somewhere to have them sent to without questions, and a safe place to stash them. I've had the same box of 50 for over a year. I thought I was close to running out when I did a little "spring" (eh, fall?) cleaning and found ten still packaged pins hidden away.

If you only shoot on rare occasions, it might still be a good idea to buy a box of 25 or so, and just keep them hidden till the mood strikes. It would probably be cheaper, and a lot less frustrating, to deal with an online vendor then some self-righteous, judgmental pill jockey.

Ummmm.....dude, you are from CT, right? I have no problems buying them from the CVS, Right Aide, and a mom and pop store that are near me. I am really surprised you got hassled that much. That shit's not right.

Haha, you used the diabetic GF approach and got denied? I have been initially denied at a wallgreen's one time, and I just said something like "please, I come in here all the time."

Michigan is one of the states that doesn't require a script for insulin syringes. I've had two pharmacys out of 10 sell me syringes. One of the willing pharmacies was a Wallgreens. A local CVS has never turned me down while another CVS has denied me syringes twice.

Believe it or not, I read an article once on how to increase your chances of getting spikes from discriminating pharmacists. It went something like....

1. Always, when possible, wear short sleeves. This shows the pharmacist you do not have track marks, or not visible ones for that matter.

2. Always say the syringes are for you "mother". This is much more believeable because a mother would tend to be more bedridden than a GF or friend etc.

3. Make sure you state EXACTLY what you need. Do not just say I need a 29 or 28 gauge 1 cc syringe. Instead, say I need a 29 gauge, 1cc diabetic insulin syringe.

4. Try to have some other diabetic products already in your hands when you walk up to the counter. Try for example, picking up a blood sugar monitor. You don't really have to buy it, just hold it while you get the spikes then put it back.

By the way, this actually worked for me.:)

Great advice--if I were a dick-hole pharmacist, I would find someone using your techniques to be quite believable.

Its sucks, but first impressions are lasting impressions.

Around what age are you five string? Do you look like you're part of Fischerspooner or the Velvet Underground .etc? I'm in my mid 20's and suspicious. I live in Michigan but some pharmacists really don't care what the law is on either front.

Honestly I find it's better to look like and talk like yourself. You won't give off the impression your hiding something. Also always use eye contact, treat it like a staring match to the death. Eye contact always wins believe me. Not nose or mouth, honest eye contact.

Basically I look like a degenerate most of the time and they rarely if ever turned me down since i hit the age of 21.

This is part of the insanity that the war on drugs has wrought. And one would hope that as supposed medical professionals these pharmacists would know better; if even they don't get it, then what does that say about the rest of the general public?

Why should one have to contract stories about diabetic girlfriends or grandmas to get rigs? Why cannot one just say that they are a drug user and are concerned about diseases like HIV/hepatitis and thus wanting to buy clean rigs? Don't these supposed medical professionals realize that their "discretion" leads to the spread of deadly diseases and encourages black markets? And once again, as supposed medical professionals, these people should know better.l They don't have the "ignorance excuse" that most of the general public has when it comes to matters related to the war on drugs.

I've had similar problems to the one you have had mikey5, and it makes me both angry and sad. I've walked out of more than one pharmacy cursing the pharmacist and wishing that they contract hiv or hepC as a form of justice for their poor "discretion".

We still have such a long way to go in regards to the war on drugs and to changing peoples opinions and educating ignorance. Despite recent progress in California (& with the Feds) relating to medical marijuana issues, we still have a lot of work to do and a lot of ignorance to cure. Stories like yours remind me of this and help to "ground" me when I get too optimistic on matters related to the drug war. Thanks for sharing...

So true....Its almost like buying condoms "for your father"....do they really think that if they dont sell your a syringe, that you won't find a way to IV? Such a stupid, destructive line of thinking. I know if we could ge the pharmacies to agree, a non-profit could fund the giveaway of a new syringe any time someone asked for one. How many cases of HCV and HIV would be avoided? Not to mention the cornucopia of other maladies related to the use of shared, dull infected gadgets.

Im not sure if some one has said this but go to a wal mart. I hate Wal mart but if no one else will serve you they will.

Last time I had to get points I waited for the pharmicist because he was late showing up so he gave me my rigs free of charge. These rigs were for booster shots I had to give to my dogs though.

Oh and some of the pharmicies around me can pull that shit too, but its not illegal to sell the needles. Hell you can buy insulin without a script so it doesn't make since to have a script for rigs.

I would have dropped my dope off at home then made a SCENE at the next pharmacy that refused me.

Complete horse shit. I've had the same problems in my area as well (as I'm sure most people who don't have access to an exchange do). Back in the day we did this spiel of bringing in a note which was "written by mother" that says something to the extent of "Johnny, don't forget to run by the pharmacy a pick up 30 guage 1cc syringes for Grandpa!".

The trick was to play completely stupid like you didn't know the lingo of the specs of syringes. Also, having the note written in a more "feminine" handwriting helped so you could just hand the pharmicist the note after you acted as if you couldn't pronounce "30 guage 1cc syringes". It was a long shot, but it worked every time.

Needle exchanges are needed everywhere, dammit!! Fucking harm reduction my ass. These pharmicists denying you syringes is like saying "No. We need more people with HIV and hep in this world. You're doing your country a great service by spreading diseases, son." Unbelievable.

Needle exchanges are needed everywhere, dammit!! Fucking harm reduction my ass. These pharmicists denying you syringes is like saying "No. We need more people with HIV and hep in this world. You're doing your country a great service by spreading diseases, son." Unbelievable.

I would have dropped my dope off at home then made a SCENE at the next pharmacy that refused me.
noone gives booster shots to their dogs! and u wouldn't use an insulin syringe anyway - i reackon they'd be pretty wise to that one - but who cares, they shouldn't. Quite alot of people need the picks to give their diabetic dog insulin shots....just a thought..for future reference. Obviously all the other stuff u get at the vet, the insulin etc. U can get the picks there too but they would usually order in advance etc so alot of people get more from the chemist...

My youngest daughter is diabetic and my first hubs usta give the puppies their first two rounds of shots using her syringes...all you have to do is get it under the skin....no biggie. :cheeky2: He'd go to the Feed store to get the immunization stuff, load it into syringe, and VOILA puppy shot done. haha

It was a long shot, but it worked every time.

whether or not you can pronounce it,
obviously you can't spell "30 gauge 1cc syringes" :p

I've immunized several puppies, I can assure you people do give their dogs shots. Its one tenth the price of getting a vet to do it, you just pull up some loose skin on the neck and then give the shot subcutaneously.

Aggro supply sells the vaccine and the syringes.

Maybe its just in oz then... ive never heard of anyone selling the vacine - i know breeders sometimes get their hands on it - but not legally

I know a SQ injection is not hard to give in a dog - i just thought u wouldn't be able to get the vaccine that easily

Yeah, it's a bitch trying to get jammies in CT. Nobody believed me when I started a thread way-back-when. Even if you go to the urban areas (Hartford, New Haven) a lot of them say no. I used to get so desperate I'd get on the bus to Springfield, MA where they will sell you jammies at CVS and one of the other pharms, all you have to do, in some cases, is show ID. I was out-of-state so I didn't give a flying fuck. I'd buy boxes of 100 B&D ultrafine 31g 1 ccs. I had a giant travel bag with me but I made sure I was NEVER holding so that way I could just say I had diabetes if in a pinch.

So, if all else fails and you get that itch you wanna scratch, take a road-trip to Springfield and grab a box of 100. I think it's about $30. You could always resell a few bags of 'em to recoup the cost of going there and back, and shit bro, I've seen people pay up to $1 per needle if they're desperate!
