Hello all,
First I'd like to say I am very familar with oxycodone and hydrocodone. I was just in a horrible car accident about two weeks ago where I rolled my explorer and was rushed to the hospital, given a morphine drip, x-rayed everything, neck braced temp., and sent home with 20 x 5mg oxycodones (percs). I had horrible lower neck and upper back pain which between us, went away. Every now and again I get weak headaches and lower back aches.
Getting to my point... I am trying to research the best method to become a pain patient that receives a monthly treatment for pain (medical treatment that is). I don't have any fractures or breaks though. Is there anything I can seak out to do this? What do most people do in situations like mine that are much worse? Do you think it's possible? My family doctor is a pediatrician (weird I know, it's just convenient for where we live).
Thanks so much

you know I about had the same type of crash, but my pain is reacurring and happens daily due to sitting on my ass anwhere from 12 hours to 72 stright during some binges, so I could give advice...BUT it was hard enough for me to find a doc willing to treat becasue of people shopping for opaites this way, Iam reluctant becasue you said "between,us" your pain went away.......you should have just said I got into a car accident can I use this as an excuse to get rxd opiates?"....urgghhhh Not tring to be a dick here, actually I have been up for 55 hours straight, and no i dont use meth...

I was in a accident not exactly like that, but was parked and some one hit me who was going about 40-45mph. Get muscle relaxents that work + good opiate (oxycodone perferably). Try to get time release oxycodone if you really want to have it last a while, and if pain gets bad u can always chew one.

So you just went to your family doctor? Or did you seek out a pain clinic?

I did state that the worst of my pain is gone in my upper back/lower neck but that I still experience lower back pain. So I do have pain. ...and besides, look around... these forums are pretty much for junkies? Hell, a few forums above this one, you can get help on how to shoot your heroin and what gage needle to use...

Make an appointment with an orthopedic doctor. Tell him you still have pain (on the 1-10 scale, a 5 or a 6 if he asks you) from your auto accident. Ask him about options for treatment. Be sure to stress you want to get better, not just manage your pain. Be sincere. Dress well.
He'll come back with shit like physical therapy, vcational rehab, and the like. Do it, say you're game, but ask him about meds in the interim. Mention that you had been given the Perocets, and ask if he could give you something to help out with management until you complete your therapy.
He'll probably give you some hydrocodone 7.5s, maybe 10s if he likes you. For advice on how to (ab)use these, look elsewhere in the forum.
You could always call him back 2-3 days later, say they don't provide any relief, or an hour of relief at best. He should up your dose to a higher hydrocodone level or even oxycodone.
Do the physical therapy as prescribed - COMPLETELY. Revisit with your ortho, say your pain is no better, sometimes worse. Ask if there's anything else you can do. He'll mention more therapy, more surgery. Decline both of these, saying the PT didn't help and you're scared of surgery. Ask about pain management clinics, fishing for a referal. It should be no problem to get a referal to one.
Once there, you enter a whole other ballgame, but at least you've laid down the fundamental groundwork to get some good treatment. DO NOT expect to go into a pain management clinic saying, "I hurt. Can I get treatment?" without going through the lower level motions. Doing the grunt works shows doctor's you're not just pill seeking, but that you have real pain.

Persistence goes a long way when trying to get meds for your pain. It sounds like you are truly in pain and not just doc. shopping so my best advice would be to tell the truth, and/or lower back pain is very hard to x-ray or mri whith definite results so if you tell them you are in pain they have to pretty much take your word for it.Migraines are another good one. Remember the doc's will always start you on a low dose of opiates and slowly work you up if your pain persist. Alot of it depends on the docter and the state you live in , for insstance in california the doc are watched thouroughly how much and what pain scripts they write. well hope this helps a little.
