Got a script for it today, that's a start but the shit is THREEHUNDREDANDSEVENTYFIVE dollars to fill 30 200mg. THREEHUNDREDANDSEVENTYFIVE fucking dollars. I got 5 today, $70. Wtf?? What the fuck are people without insurance and aren't rich yet supposed to do? Fuck me.. What are they trying to compete with the street dealers? Though I doubt anyone on the street would pay $15 dollars for one of these things but I've seen people spend more for less..

Anyway, been about 3-4 hours since I popped a 200mg. I like, def. not edgy like the amps although I do like the amps a lot, but I really don't wanna take dex or MP everyday, supposedly Modafinil has some neuro-protectant and possible cognitive enhancement abilities, interesting drug.. So far I like it although it's only the first day and I still haven't got shit done, heh.. Maybe a rip on the bike is in order..

And interstingly, at least to me cos I was wondering, I'm about 6-7 days off alcohol and still a little shaky, taking GHB and drinking in the same day pushed my normal drinking into a physical habit, so I quit drinking, and 200mg of the provigil didn't turn me into a sweaty bowl of jello like I know any real amps would.

The feeling is marked, but it's way less edgy than speed..

^^ that's really true and trust me, I've thought about it.. I'd wanna shoot it all the time though and again, I don't really want speed everyday.. Shit is fun (imo) but really fucking bad for you...

This shit is extremely expensive. It's what the doctor at the methadone clinic I was at scripted me for being too sedated. I was first on 200mg a day, then 400mg a day. He wouldn't go higher than that. Anyway, it is expensive.

What he (the doctor) did was write the script, give it to me, and also a voucher he got from the pharm reps who used to come into the clinic. The voucher had a code at the bottom, and each voucher was worth 7 pills. When I was on 400mg (or two pills) a day, I had to have two vouchers, b/c I'd need 14 pills a week.

The funny thing was that more often than not, when I'd take the script into the pharmacy, along with the voucher, there were several times when the pharmacist would come back to me and say that the voucher wasn't good. That the code on the voucher had already been used. I've often wondered if the pharm reps were giving out previously-used vouchers, OR if someone at the clinic had already used them and had a little Provigil problem.

The other bad thing is that since I was using the vouchers, I had to go to the pharmacy two times a week, because they wouldn't accept two vouchers at once. So, I'd go in on Monday, for instance, get my seven pills, then go back three days later to get the other seven.

In the end, it was just a hastle, and when I left the clinic, I still had a script on file at the pharmacy for another 14 pills, but never ended up picking it up because I didn't have anymore vouchers since I wasn't at the clinic anymore, and because I certainly didn't have $100+ for 14 pills of a shitty stimulant.

I thought the stuff made me alert, but I didn't think it was really euphoric. It felt like drinking a strong pot of coffee without the jitters to me.

You might ask your doctor if they have vouchers from the pharm reps. I'm sure they'd still make them.

Modafinil is amazing. I have learned an entire semester's worth of material in 12 hours with 2 200mg doses before. IMO it is FAR FAR better than amphetamines. In my experience it is excellent for allowing concentration while on opiates. The benefits are only noticed when you evaluate your performance and ability to ignore irrelevant things / exhibit goal oriented behavior... so go do something requiring cognitive thinking!

Also, these can be extremely inexpensive... and are only schedule IV *hint*

Significant research shows that the size of the molecule has a bearing on the effectiveness of this drug (and why there are still patents on this drug near 20 years after it was discovered), and the name branded Provigil seems to be the most effective for most people. If I thought the Indian shit was worth it, I might order it, but I hear/read it's nowhere near as good as the US branded stuff..

On vouchers, yeah, I wanted to try this route when I first asked for this stuff but my GP is a puss and won't write for shit. Now you can get vouchers for "Nuvigil," but tmk the side effect profile is much broader on that drug and it's newer. Modafinil has been around awhile and I really *don't* trust the FDA and new drugs.

i am also prescribed provigil for "chronic fatigue syndrome"
(which i believe is doctor-talk for "i have no fucking clue what's wrong with yo9u")
but i was given a couple of 7-day sample packs of nuvigil becaues it costs retarded amounts
i like the name "armodafinil" personally, it sounds like a lizard in the late jurrassic period :D

but when those run out, i can buy provigil online
instead of $11/pill, i pay $91 for 100 of the 200mg pills
i assume it's against da rulez to post a link, but it's easy to find
FUCK buying those things at a pharmacy, you'll go broke

yeah I take it too. Keeps me from sleeping during the day, but I have health insurance :o
Pretty wonderful stuff if you ask me. Keeps me awake and "vigilant"!

Yeah I tried provigil once, a guy at work gave me a dose and it has an undeniable stimulant effect: you get all serious, lose your sense of humor, just like on the real speed, except theres no euphoria, just an edginess and a weird feeling I didnt find too pleasant. It did wake me up tho, and I didnt crash a few hours later, it just kind of faded away. I didnt really like it, this guy at work that had the shit said his doctor gave him a bunch of samples because it is expensive, as you mentioned. I've heard theres a place "air sealed" something or other that supposedly sells modafinil powder in weight for less expense.

I always preferred dexedrine because of price and effect. Modfanil was very smooth, but it wasn't at all what I needed or desired in a stimulant. Wish I still had a few around just for the days I'm feeling not so hot-it did achieve something comparable to what caffeine does for those without habituation, albeit much more smoothly.

Still a buttload of cash, when my only options were pharmacys.

@ Shelley:

Yeah you can buy "modafinil" from other sources cheaper, but the reports I'm reading almost universally say that the off-branded stuff isn't anywhere near as good as the name brand "Provigil." I can't afford this shit at 375/mo either, just sayin' that people aren't liking the mail order stuff too much, I've been following this stuff for awhile. I'd be really interested to hear from anyone who has had chance to compare the US branded Provigil w/ the overseas, likely Indian, Modafinil/Modalert (I think they're calling it).

What is Nuvigil? Is it a different drug altogether, or just Provigil / modafinil in an ER version or new formulation?

New drug, closely related, longer acting...

And again, the side effect profile didn't read very well to me..

@nark
nuvigil is "armodafinil" definitely stronger (at least to me)
i take 200mg provigil each day and i only take half of the 150mg nuvigil for a similar effect

@chops
the mail-order modafinil online works the same as the name brand for me
the problem with this sort of shit is that since the same drug in the same dose
can affect 4 different people in 4 completely different ways
so it's hard to ask what it'll do, or if the generic is just as good, you know what i mean?

i like the provigil and nuvagil, it allows me to take care of my business and not be tired and lethargic
without getting me high and making me want to get higher
it's not a drug i'd recommend for any sort of euphoric effects

Its the racemic of Modafinil.

Its the racemic of Modafinil.

Shit, my bad - I swear I thought I read it was a new drug.

To be specific, and this shit is greek to me too, but interesting; it's that modafinil is the racemic compound and the (-) enantiomer of modafinil is what they're selling as Nuvigil - I don't get much about chemistry but it's like a certain (neg charged?) portion of the molecule.

Fuckers did that with Zopiclone too, same thing. Patented an isomer after like 20 years and sold it for a ridiculous price. Shit's gotta stop.

i've heard it can cause some extremely psychotic reactions in some people... just so happens that way in my family, after having 2 or 3 different relatives try it with that result.

i actually take straterra which does me good.... really seems to be helping so far. i have only been on it for a few weeks but i can certainly notice a change
