So I a took my bunny to the vet because she just got spayed and wasn't eating. She is in a lot of pain and since I have my papers to do IV/injections and such they gave me take home opioids. They handed me 30 syringes of methadone solution and 30 of fentanyl for break through pain. When the woman handed my fiance the script I had to walk over to the water because I got the giggles. Does anyone know what I am talking about? A flash back of that needle and stamp bags. I'm not quite sure why I am posting this, just if anyone else knows what I am talking about. That giggly feeling of remembering the needle. It was like a craving, but I was already opiated and my god I just couldn't stop smiling and giggling.
ps- I am also working on my MD and my fiance is a vet so technically should could probably write the script, but my God that feeling of opioid giggles makes me giggle just thinking about. Does anyone else get this and in what kind of situations?

If your fiance is a vet, why were you taking your bunny to someone else and paying for it etc??? And I'm a vet myself and i can't believe they were handing out what sounds like SO much opiates for a bloody spey! Especially to the owners to give at home - that would be unheard of here... with S8s

It's California law that an animal has to be spayed when they are adopted from the humane society. If I wanted to take her to my fiance's practice she would have to free up time with her bunny person, because she doesn't do bunny's. She actually had to stay for three days because during the surgery she stopped breathing and then the incision started to pus. It's infected so my bunny is in a LOT of pain, and we have to give her antibiotics and clean the incision as well. The vet showed us where to fill her up with water/saleen so I just gave her a bunch of liquid. She can fit so much water subQ. LOL she looks like a water bed it's funny. Her skin makes waves LOL.

Oh yeah and care + medicine is 100% free the first 21 days of adopting ANY animal from the Humane Society-which is the public/state run adoption facility.

Makin no assumptions here, but is it possible that the giggles were brought on by the idea of using your bunny's meds for yourself?
When I saw the 1st Transformers movie, this thought popped into my head when the kid gives his injured dog some meds and calls him a junkie... also, I've always wondered if people could get off - or even effects - from using animal meds.. like in the Seinfield episode where Kramer uses the meds scripted for Smuckers the dog for his own cough.
I know it'd prob be way too weak, but shit, fent is fent, right? So, if you took enough, well I'm just guessing...
Also, yes, I know movies/tv shows are not real... I just kinda find amusement in someone getting off on shit scripted to their pet. I wouldn't do it (I don't think :)), as I'm not so much of a lowlife to steal my beloved dog's meds - much less from my loving family - but hey I guess you can never say never.
I've heard of many cases of people stealing shit from their grandparents/other family members prescribed meds stash - and this is often for terminal/serious medical issues - and I would think one's dog would be just a tad below on the totem pole... though it is a difficult determination - I really love my doggy.
If your bunny makes a full recovery, and you have a bit left over, think you'd do it? Just curious ;).

yes ofcourse they're exactly the same thing!!! We use temgesic (bupe) all the time in vet practice, and have huge bottles of methadone for pain relief and vials of morphine/pethidine. Its all the same stuff - often even just the medical stuff being used for animals. But yes, it would be such a small dose it wouldn't be worth taking. Unless ofcourse you're dealing with horses... they use alot of morphine at times...and ketamine.. And fentanyl is used alot in some practices - including the patches.
For some reason once i graduated i never crossed that lline again... i felt if i did it would be the beginning of the end.. not that that didn't come a different way with heroin, and at a lot bigger price... but anyway - i still have my vet licence etc and never actually ordered S8 drugs - so they could never accuse me.
Alot of practices don't really use S8 drugs - just NSAIDs like metacam etc. but i believe good pain relief is best practice. You really do need them in a good quality practice, esp doing alot of surgery. But Ive not heard of opiates being given to the owners to give to the animals... It is nearly always an inpatient injection or drip infusion thing.
*Antifox* - i get your drift now - i don't do bunny surgery either... but they are great for SQ fluids!

I actually saw a news story on the web about a woman who was being prosecuted for fraud and other shit in regards to Stadol, or some other mixed agonist/antagonist in pill form. She was being prosecuted in 5 different states and saw various vets over a 1000 times in the period of a few years.
I can't post a link as I am on my celly, but it was an interesting story. When they searched her house they found 100's of used rigs and spoons and shit everywhere. I believe that her son was involved in some way also.

Damn, that sucks. She should have at least shot for fent or something. Going to jail for Stadol would just be embarrassing.

Actually, on a slightly different note, several years ago there was some guy who managed to swipe some ketamine from some vet clinic. It was for cats, but I remember being at a night club (rave scene) where he/his crew were dosing people for cheap... and it seemed to work, cause they were all fucked up - sunk into couches in the corner in what appeared to be a trance-like state.
Now I've never been into K, only tried it in E laced w/ some, but based on that, I didn't like it. But whatever floats your boat, I guess. When I read your post OpieQueen, it brought back memories of that time... I think they went through it all that night.
How much K they had, and the size of the doses they had to use I'm not sure of, but a female friend of mine who was into that shit said that it wasn't as good as the K for horses, but it was still good - esp for the price. Also, how much other shit people were mixing w/ the K I'm not sure of either - it was the rave scene and all . I suppose if you're on 5 hits of E and 3 doses of acid, even cat tranquilizers will prob fuck you up pretty good.
Of course, how good drooling all over yourself and being totally out of it in a public place with bright, epileptic seizure inducing lights, and fools sucking on pacifiers and wearing/twirling around glow sticks can be, well I don't really know... and that's not even taking into consideration the shit that was being passed off as music. Like I said, I've always thought that shit was retarded... but to each his own, I suppose.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that slightly off topic and belated experience, as it had something to do w/ vet drugs. To the OP, I hope your bunny enjoys his/her med script... what a lucky little feller - must be those 4 rabbit feet he/she walks around with. :):D:p

Yeah they gave me a bunch of metacam i think. That's the shit that's really scary to dose cats with but is a 24 hour drug?
I know. I could have used my bunny as a canteen he was so filled up with water.
And I suppose it's possible that I thought of using it for myself. If there is some left over I might save it for a rainy day seeing as how they gave me a lot, especially since those methadone injections last 12 hours for bunnies. I more of had a flash back to the IV heroin days. I don't think I could drop to that level unless I was craving like CRAZY, but if I was 3-5 days into withdrawal I couldn't do, day 21 I'm not sure...but it didn't really cross my mind until you said it.

I know what you mean about being giddy, but those injections are probably useless. Methadone is crap IMO, and the fentanyl injections must contain less than 10 micrograms if it's for a rabbit. Maybe if you shoot all 30 you'll feel something.
