View Full Version : No Veins Left, IM for me!

I just found this site...I have been shooting H for 5 years, and for about 2 of those I was IVing speedballs and coke/crack as well. I burned out every vein I can find with the coke, I quit using coke in December or so and now I only SC/IM heroin. What I want to know is, am I IMing the best way I could be? I use a regular insuline needle and shoot the dope (prepared the same way I have always prepared it for IV) into my upper arm or the side of my breast, near my armpit. I have some bruises but not too bad. No one knows I still use, so I must be doing okay with hiding it.

What have you done if you ran out of veins to IV? I never learned how to hit my jugular, but i think every other vein is used up. Is there a better location or method for IM than I am using?

I really don't advise using an insulin syringe for IM injections, especially the syringes with the shorter needle.
For IM injections you want to use the areas in your body with the bigger muscles, the thighs, in the rear, the stomach. I know some might disagree about the use of insulin syringes and IM's as they feel they do get into the muscle, but IMO, I think your getting more of a subcutaneous injection.

You put yourself at a higher risk for developing an abscess with IM/SQ injections, but I can understand and personally relate to not having any veins. It can make your drug use a total waste when you have nothing to hit. I personally have not one visible vein on my body nor can I even feel any with a tourniquet.
Women do tend to have a harder time with finding veins and those with long term IV use. Just goes with the territory.

Are you getting your needles from an exchange or pharmacy? Most needle exchanges have needles/syringes for IM injections. You want to use something longer than a 1/2 inch for IM's. This way you make sure to get it into the muscle where it absorbs much faster and less risk of infections. SQ injections tend to absorb more slowly. With an IM injection there shouldn't be as much bruising as with an injection given SQ.

Hope this helps.

Hey lil miss, like you I have virtually no veins, but I have never tried to inject my H IM, I just wondered does it hurt, like it does when you are missing?
