so I've been on stimulants for ADHD since I was in 1st grade and now I have no insurance so all I can afford is methylphenidate. the last doctor that was prescribing left and now the douchebag in charge of that office says he won't prescribe it for adult ADD, what the fuck do I do? I can't function without my medicine. I can't afford to see a psychiatrist.

Fuck. With records showing you've taking meds for this disorder since first grade, this asshole wants to stop you CT all of a sudden? What do you get right now? HAve you tried focalin?

Isn't there some kind of injunction? You live " across the pond" too right? this is fucked. Sorry man. good luck.

no I live in the northeast US, getting ritalin, was on dexedrine most of those years though. I discussed focalin with my Dr. last time but she said that if the ritalin was working not to bother trying it but then she left the practice and now I have this anti-controlled substance nazi in charge. I guess I could try and see another GP but I think I'm fucked.

Call the office, get your records and go find another GP..

I have a need for MP/Focalin/Adderall - Not strictly ADD though I present similarly (very scatterbrained as a result of really poor quality sleep for years and years; sometimes very tired during the day), but sometimes it would help me for EDS due to fucked up sleep patterns (IR in the/my "am" only, what I want is Provigil but I can't afford it), and it's all on label for EDS, but my GP has apparently decided no more drugs for me, she's been writing for Valium for 5 years, and now that I want off, she is no help at all.. So I'm going to stop wasting my cash and time there.. Why can't I get a script for something I should have a right to?? Pisses me off.. New doc time for me too..

thats so fucked up. you've been on medication for years, and just because the doctor in charge retires, or moves, or whatever, and the second in command now is the big man on campus, they go around just cutting people off their medications.

you think they would be like, well, whatever the doctor was doing for you before i took over was obviously working, because you werent complaining, and you were still coming here, (and regaurdless of what they may say or what others may thing, they do need you too. without you, they are losing money. without any patients, they are out of business.) so we will just stick with that. but noooooo....fuckers...

i feel for ya brah...

sorry i couldnt be of any help...

i hope something works out for you...

Try Vyvanse it works well for me and it seems(at least here) that they would rather rx that then addie or str8 dex

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation, ParegoricKid.

I hadnt heard of this substance before, but was intrigued to read on wikipedia that:

Methylphenidate pharmacological effect on the central nervous system is almost identical to that of cocaine. Studies have shown that the two drugs are nearly indistinguishable when administered intravenously to cocaine addicts.

As someone who enjoys the odd speedball, this was intriguing to me. Has anyone else tried this stuff IV? (or otherwise) What did you think?

Sorry to hear this, kid.Hell, this is REALLY BAD medicine. As I see it,you have two choices;1.Find another(better) doc ,or 2.Find a drug he'll rx that you can live with.

I've messed around with it. The first few times were enjoyable then it turned on me -- the last few times, I felt horrible - anxious and nervous. I'm definitely over it.

I've personally always enjoyed Ritalin, I almost prefer it to amphetamines sometimes. Most def methamphetamine, I'm not to big on stims and methamphetamine is just to potent for me. I like the occasional Ritalin or amphetamine salts for sure tho. Oddly, I've never really been that into coke unless it's good coke, I mean the coke that I call fish scale shit, shiny and has a really strong smell to it. I can't say I don't enjoy some white like that when I rarely get it, in the beginning of course, I always end up strung out and feeling shitty on coke which is something that amphetamines and Ritalin has never given me. Sure, obviously you have to come down off of it but it has never been as bad for me as coke. Don't know why but that's just the way I am.

But anyways bro back on subject, like others have said, with all those records you have find a new GP or psych that will prescribe them to you. I am paying attention and I know you can't afford it but that's the only advice I really have to offer. Maybe you'll have to save up to go? Keep in mind there are tons of Government assistants deals for shit like this, I don't know your history and I know that kind of thing can be a bitch but I would at least see if that is possible.

Other than that, will he just not prescribe Ritalin? It sounds like maybe he won't prescribe rits for adult ADHD but could possibly prescribe a more potent medication for adult ADHD or will he not give you shit at all? Because, wal-Mart has dirt cheap medicine now if they have generics. Again, I don't know enough about what is going on or your history to give any decent advice but hopefully a few of the things I said might give you an idea of what to do.

Sorry this is happening bro, it is complete bull shit. Hope you can work something out.

I don't understand what the problem is Kid. Just find another doc - it isn't like there aren't hundreds of them around any major city. You have the documentation to back your past history of treatment so it should be a non-brainer for any doc worth his/her salt to continue prescribing what was working for you. Just go and find a good one.

as others have said, get your records and get a new doc. It isn't as if you're asking for something major to change. You have documentation.

I guess thats what I'll try, they still wrote me another, but I will have to find a new doc. they didn't like I was getting a high dose twice a day. if they give this shit to 12 year olds how the fuck can they say its dangerous to give it to a fuckin adult. these people are fuckin morons. I just need to find another place that is part of a big hospital system so I can get away with not paying them like I was with this place. their billing department is totally separate so they never cared.
