I was just wondering if pins are over the counter or prescription only in ID?
If anyone knows, I would appreciate the info... Thanks!

i've tried doing the dirty work for you and looked online...
i couldn't find any information about syringes in idaho...
honestly, i didn't look extremely hard though, so dont take my word for it...
your best option is to call around to a couple of pharmacies and ask what their policy's are reguarding buying syringes...
and just because one pharmacy says no, doesnt mean that no pharmacy there will sell them to you...
for instance, the only pharmacy that i can buy them at with out a prescription is cvs, no other pharmacy will sell them...
so your best bet is to call around, and find out...
if all else fails, you can always order them offline, some sites are cheaper than if you would buy them in person, if you buy in bulk anyways (and for harm reduction's sake, i dont see why you wouldn't buy in bulk)...
sorry i can't be anymore help than that...

Right on. They are over the counter where I come from, but I don't know about up here where I am working right now.

just call around brah. if they say no, they say no.
its a lot better than being shot down in person, ya know what i mean?
from what i've heard, a lot of times little mom and pop pharmacy's will sell them to you, even if the state requires a rx...
just make up some excuse...
im out of town and forgot to pack mine...

First off, I do not want to be dishonest. I know nothing about the actual law in Idaho. But I've been down the path of trying to call places to see who will do what so that's what my advice is predicated on here.
Back when I was first starting out my IV career NO PLACE I called said they had pins w/o an Rx. If you think about it, why would they want to say yes because 9 times out of 10 you know exactly for what someone w/o an Rx wants the needles.
They figure if they say "no" over the phone you won't grace them with your drug-addict presence in person. The only way you'll truly know is if you go up and ask. I mean, I'm in CT and they don't generally dispense pins w/o an Rx, believe me, nobody advertises they do and very few I'd suspect even admit to it over the phone... but, if you go to a pharmacy in a bad neighborhood and just go about it like you're supposed to be there and you ask for what you need you stand a much better chance of getting it. That's how I got my pins even in a state that supposedly says you need an Rx (at least from what I've seen on the net and have been told from pharmacists personally with their snot-bag, judgmental looks).
My point is: casing things over the phone usually doesn't work out. If they tell you "yes" they do then they feel as though word will get out to all the junkies "hey go to ABC Pharmacy they sell pins to anyone over 18."
If the law says "no" just be prepared to go to a lot of places and do some reading on wiki about type 1 diabetes to think of something clever to say as an out-of-stater w/ diabetes if that's what you'll be to get what you need.
Good luck in any case. Hope it works out.

I wish someone did like a list on the laws state by state, if you need or don't need a script for pins or a hyperlink if there is such a link. It seems like this question has come up a lot lately.

you do not have to have a prescription to purchase syringes in wisconsin, however, they restrict the manufacturing, sales, distribution, and possession of them in the state.
it is legal for a doctor to prescribe syringes, and it is legal for a pharmacy to dispense syringes, with or without a prescription.
im sure some stores follow their own rules, and rules also may vary county to county. just because it may be legal to buy syringes with out a prescription in your state, does not mean that it will be 'easy'.

To the O.P.- where are you in Idaho? Generally speaking of course... if you have trouble getting them I may be able to re-direct you... but as JM said, you should be able to get them anywhere with no problems.
Johnny- I thought you left our little corner of the world... are you back?

If they ever ask you why you need them, say they're for your (diabetic) cat and just play dumb. Act like you just left the vet and they told you to go buy insulin syringes..

since they are legal to buy here without a prescription, i always tell them that they are for my grandfather, and that he is a diabetic, and handicapped, so it is much easier / quicker for me to run out and get them than it is for him. of course, this is the truth (the part about him being a diabetic and handicapped), so i can elaborate even more, if needed. i've only been asked once, and even then it was after they had already rung them up and i had them in hand, and the person was a trainee...

Aggro supply places or feed stores usually have individually wrapped syringes right by the cash register in a tub for under 50 US cents. Anyplace that sells iron supplement or worming med ampoules.
Last time I looked it was BD tuberculina 29G 1ml barrel with a detachable needle.
These places don't ask for scripts or anything, but go in looking like someone who works with farm animals:D
