View Full Version : Some rare psilocybes

Nature's been good to me this season. It's been 3-4 years since I've found any shrooms (and being the druggy I am, I have been looking). This year I've been finding literally hundreds, and new species too. Usually all I find is Psilocybe subaeruginosa (pictured in another thread I made, very similar to p. cubensis). This year I also stumbled across a huge patch of Psilocybe australiana, as well as a couple of rare native species. The first one, Weraroa novae-zelandiae (blue pouch), was apparently used by Maori shamen. I tried 5 of these with some friends and it was a noticibly different trip to the subs, very potent and visual. The other day I was lucky enough to stumble acrcoss a patch of this species (http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10534836#10534836), which are so rare they haven't been named. Apparently they are very potent, just 2-3 needed for a trip. I'll be trying them tonight or tomorrow so I'll update the thread with a trip report!

Please do.... very interested Seedy. Do they grow in the same places?

Seedy did you make a post recently about new species of psyocybes in New Zealand, if not I read it elsewhere. Enjoy the night, update on there potency and when your really feeling them think of ways to fax me some spores, I don't think they'll E-mail.

^^ i think i posted about them in the penis envy mushroom thread. and motown, the blue pouches grow in native forest, out of rotting plant debris, very hard to find as they generally grow alone, spread out over a fairly large area. The bunch in that photo I actually found while at work! And the other variety, which a shroomery member has nicknamed 'rhizomorphs' were found in pine mulch, which is where I generally look for the subaeruginosas ('gold tops').
edit: here's the only trip repory I've been able to find on the 'rhizomorphs':
OMG!!! Me an my brother ate 9 of these between ourselves last night it was the most intense experience ever. The boundaries of reality were totally morphed couldn't understand basic concepts such as being an individual. It was like we were all one with the universe. Got really scary when i started melting into objects. We completely lost our minds! We wanted to get back to reality but couldn't even grasp what that was. All we new was it was the light at the end of the tunnel that was keeping us sane. Definitely hit a level 5 and it was our first time tripping. You just gota ride that shit out totally life changing!
I can hardly wait!

Have you ever found any Amanita Muscaria where you live. I don't know where you live so I don't know if your in a good area but I'd be curious if you have ever found them or at least I'm curious if you've ever tried them and if so what did you think of them?

^^ man, they're literally everywhere! i've heard they aren't that recreational or even very psychedelic so i haven't ever wanted to try them. i place them in the same category as nutmeg and datura!
edit: i live in New Zealand

Yeah I've never tried it myself nor even seen them but from the things I've read I don't know that I would try them if I had some. They seem to be the kind of stuff that is very unpredictable and can easily be very unpleasant.
It's the same way I feel about Salvia but even worse because of the longer duration. I've never tripped on Datura because the times I tried it I was on suboxone and unfortunately (maybe fortunately) it blocks Datura's mechanism.
I've seen people on it and it never looked all that appealing.
IF you ever do try them let me know how it was and good shit with the psilocybe's.

^ yeah, they're the perfect trip, especially if you use the lemon tek method; you use either dry powdered shrooms or chop up your fresh ones as fine as possible, then let it sit in lemon juice for half an hour and consume the lot with a but of lemonade or sweetener of your choice. This converts the psilocybin into psilocy, a process that usually takes place in your gut (i think, someone correct me if i'm wrong) so there's less nausia and the trip comes on faster and stronger. It cuts the length down to 2-3 hours but re-dosing works just fine if you want a longer trip. And unlike acid the comedown is quick and painless, then you can sleep!

crazy ive never heard of any of those. Wasnt there supposed to be a sequel to paul stamets psilocybin around the world? Psilocybe mushrooms are some of the most versital organisims i hear there is a type that will grow even in snow.

Very interesting. 2-3 hours is a little more realistic now-a-days anyway.
I mean..... who has 6-12 hours anymore?

Well 3 of us tripped on the mushrooms pictured on the right plus about 8 other small ones. We made a tea, no lemon tek. I thought we hadn't had enough but after about 1.5 hours the madness had taken hold. It was quite different to any mushroom trip I've taken before, more euphoric, with a body buzz like I'd taken mdma. Not very visual but the euphoria more than made up for it, we were basically pissing ourselves laughing for hours. all in all a great trip, could have been stronger, but very euphoric and easy on the head. Not like any shrooms I've ever taken before! I'm gonna let the last few babies grow up and take them by myself, fresh and lemon tekked, make (probably) the last trip of the season a good one!

Last trip of the season? If I were you I would scour the whole fucking island for a month bagging up pounds of them bitches

^^ Problem is it's the end of the season for the common varieties, I'll probably be able to scrounge up one more trip from that patch but I'm not counting on finding any more patches. Apparently the blue pouches keep growing until late spring but they're hard to find. I'm sure I'll keep looking though

No Shit. Never heard of that but will try it if I remember next time I do trip.

Hmm. Maybe road trip time? Last time I went looking on farms I just found worthless shrooms. Lots and lots of them.

Ah, psilocybes! In the good ol' days, before everything went to hell, you could buy it in the open air markets in Copenhagen, right next to 4 different kinds of hydro and 6 or 8 different kinds of hashish!
It's still there, the open air market, but ever since the police cracked down on it, shrooms went the way of the hydro and pot, gone, gone, gone, the atmosphere is a lot more tense, and the only thing you can buy are 2 or 3 different kinds of hashish starting at ten dollars pr. gram. Which is like twice the price of the good old days.
I never really liked shrooms. I like psychedelics, god I LOVED LSD, but shrooms were just.... Blah.
I wasn't really able to talk while tripping on them. Just like, locked up in my own psychedelic little world, which made the trips memorable, but less enjoyable. Anyone else feel that way on shrooms?
One thing I DO remember though, what made the biggest impression on me, was the feeling right at the onset of the trip. A strong feeling of deja-vu. It felt like I've been here before, a familiar feeling, though I couldn't say if it was a memory from being an infant, or from a past life.

Until I read around on The Shroomery for a while I didn't realize there were now 200 known psilocybian mushroom species around the world. I didn't know much at all about them, besides the common Cubensis from the Southern U.S. and the multitude of Psilocybe's in the Pacific Northwest.
I found it very interesting, and learned there are even a couple varieties in my area. I was even lucky enough to find a large growth of Big Laughing Gym's in one of our border states.
Some people have introduced Psilocybe Azurecense (sp?) to parts of Wisconsin now, and I think they're taking off. The just never had the chance before because the Rocky mountains seperated the Pacific Northwest from the Mid-West.
So... Cool things happening for shroomers. They really are everywhere nowadays, for anyone willing to take the time to learn and go out looking. And there are some species yet to be discovered of course...

My first experience with shrooms was quite profound:
