does anyone have any info or experience with dandelion root. it contains taraxacoside, a type of acylated gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) glycoside.

I had friends that drank it every morning as a coffee substitute. In my eyes however, it was no substitute.

dandelion root is used as a thermogenic in products formulated for fat loss.it will raise internal body temp and really get you sweating.not sure if this has anything to do with the taraxacoside.
it is in Muscletech's Thermo-shred,which is a fat burner,contest-prep product, among others of the like.

No personal experience other than coffee substitute and dandelion wine. Neither were worth bothering.
As for extracting, I'd grind, soak in several times it's volume of alcohol for several hours to a day, decant, and filter. That should get you a crude extract.
Here's a journal ref for more info....
Rauwald, H. W. and J. T. Huang. Taraxacoside, a type of acylated gamma-butyrolactone glycoside from Taraxacum officinale. Phytochemistry 24(7): 1557-1560.
If you are doing it for the GBL, there are easier sources.

Plain ole grape wine fucks me up all to Hell too man. Don't underestimate the power of ethanol to do that to a man. Save the world... I don't think so... Fuck somebody all to hell... absolutely.

wine and other alcohol made from red or white grapes contain small amounts of GHB and GBL. might be cool to try and make a dandelion/grape wine. do they use the flowers, root, or whole plant to make the wine?
can anyone find the full text of this paper: Taraxacoside, a type of acylated gamma-butyrolactone glycoside from Taraxacum officinale.

I guess the idea is to just use the petals from the flower, no green parts, but I think alot of people get impatient or lazy and just use the whole flower top. I haven't made dandelion wine yet and probably never will. The stuff I had was given to me by someone else and tasted unsurprisingly like rotting lawn clippings. I HAVE made many batches of grape wine, some meads, and a surprisingly interesting grapefruit wine.
Here is a recipe from a well known wine making site. I haven't tried this.
