I have the habit of biting my nails which I think is common between most junkies...

What I've learned time and time again is that after biting your nails down you must file them smooth or you will end up bloody or with a ridiculous looking red scratch across your face.

That's all....usefull knowledge...yup

Oh. How about picking at the cuticle around the fingernail? I do that, especially when I'm nervous about something, especially when I'm wondering whether or not I'll be able to score (which is lately just limited to doctor-shopping and conning).

When a large piece of skin comes off, the fingernail can bleed, which looks really fucking dumb. If this happens at work, I'll pull off a little piece of paper towel from in the restroom, fold it up like a band-aid and wrap it around my fingertip and then tape it off so it stays. It's like an improvised band-aid. What it looks like reminds me of Michael Jackson, when he used to have those pieces of white tape on his fingertips. Maybe he did the same thing too.
