NEW Special on Drugs in the sixties on VH1 right now.

It could suck but we will see.

I did just see Burroughs shoot up on VH1. Its looking good so far they are starting with the fifties underground aspect of the beats

ALot of facts are a little skewed but there is also alot of footage I've never seen before. Government tests with L and such

OOOHHH MAAANN they got Neil Cassady doseing shit DevilsDrug might be in the backround somewhere. Interviews with KKesey Ive never seen This is fucking awesome for standard TV.

Were you at the Human Be-in DD? you can answer that right? "Monterey Purple" Ring any bells

This special is all week long and is called Rock Docs The Drug years.

They were just talking about Owsley and the large batches of L he made. "Monterey Purple" Ring any bells... Thus creating the Owsley laws banning L in '66. Everynight this week at nine pm. At least in my time zone.

I just finished watching it. A bit light on substance, but I don't feel that it was wasted time. Nonetheless, I'm sure I'll watch the other parts in the series.

The LSD one was okay. I can't wait for the Heroin doc. Talk about a drug related with music history.

Tonights was pretty good... talked about the tons and tons of imported marijuana and how it became normal through saturday night live, and high times (the mag), and other...

Also talked about heroin in the 'Nam war. I had no idea that throughout the '70s, addiction grew to 1 in 4 soldiers (including higher ups).... then some were even shipping the shit in (in body bags no less).... and the CIA was shipping heroin in to pay for much of the paramilitary warfare...

This also reminded me of my research on Jamaican political wafare and how the CIA was shipping guns into jamaica in Bob Marley's music equipment.... is nothing sacred?

Oh, well, next week it looks like its going to the crack epidemic and onwards...

Interesting stuff, and definitely learned a few things.

I keep forgetting they are actually showing shows nightly instead of weekly... still missing Earl. And the Office.

I too was surprised at the 1 in 4 statistic. I don't remember that from my history books, but some historical facts slip through the cracks when certain people want them to. I hate how we teach sanitized and biased history in this country (then again every country does that). As if erasing events from history books erases them from history. Out of sight, out of mind I suppose.

After the first episode, I thought this mini-series was just "ok," but as the separate installments come together, I'm beginning to appreciate it more as a whole.

Army Diesease is what they called it in the Civil War. The statistics from that event are even crazier.

Ha, I knew there was a reason I liked you, History, great minds must actually think alike; 'The Office' is one of my favorite new shows. Steve Carrell is fantastic, seems made to play this role, and the writers' dry, sardonic wit is perfect. Hope they don't fuck it up next season.

I only have a certain allotment of my time for TV, so I only allow myself to get wrapped up in one or two new shows a year, and 'The Office' is one of them.
