Anyone on Topamax for pain? It is used for other things. A friend of mine got some from SWIM and took it an said it turned him into a zombie. Said he felt like he was asleep while awake .. said it felt great.

I take a small amount for pain .. it is the same class of drug as Neurontin. It also helps with sleep. They are using it for sleep apnea (my wife says I don't snore when I take it).

I actually don't even take the full amount I am suppose to most of the time because it does tend to build up in my system and make me drowsy... but it does help with the neuro pain ... definitely. I also take other stuff along with it and it seems that the mixture of stuff is really keeping my pain under control pretty well... I haven't had shots now for over 5 months.:)

^ Sorry, this is gonna sound stupid, but I thought that smoker's toothpaste was called Topamax. I must obviously be wrong...so what is it (like, it's classification, etc...if you know)?

I've heard a lot about funky or outright nasty things about Topamax side effects. Since my pain is not believed to be primarily neuropathic in nature, I don't think it would help me any more than Cymbalta or Lyrica, two other very commonly prescribed neuromeds, did.
