Has anyone successfuly used suboxone to get off Heroin. What I mean is, has anyone used suboxone for more than 6 months consecutively, and then quit suboxone with little or no pain. I have been using sub's since May of last year, I started at 16 mg's a day and am now at between 4-6 mg's a day. The last couple of weeks I have been feeling like I have been withdrawling almost unbearably. What is up with that? The only other person I know who has been on sub's longer than me is Billi. I want to know how to get off of sub's with little or no pain. Or is that even possible?

Where's the magic bullet? I have no answer. I tell you - I don't know of any completely pain-free method of detox. Even anesthesia-assisted and ibogaine have their painful components.

The most pain-free detox I've ever had was detoxing from Heroin with Bup. I had been using IV for about 3 years and then when the withdrawals were at their worst, I was given bup in a .3mg ampule. I used it this way for 3 days (so a total of nine doses) and then walked away pretty much (at least in my own head) pain-free.

I've not been able to achieve anything even comparable since then. Your best bet in getting off the subs is probably to cut your down down to an acceptable level (like .2mg's) to where you're taking an almost ridiculous amount comfortably, and then stop altogether.

Some people feel more comfortable coming off at 2mg's, as buprenorphine seems to act more like an opiate at lower doses, but I would personally prefer to take less.

The truth is, there's no easy way out. Sad, but true. (maybe someone can come up with a drug to get me off the buprenorphine? let's go scientists! giterdun....)

"Pain is the first teacher we deny. " by Dale Pendell.....this quote is great, but who actually feels up to dealing with detox? even in the best attempts feelings of doubt and reluctance to cut dosage creep in. I think very slow weens can be pretty effective, I have done this using methadone and tramadol, but never morphine or heroin. with heroin weening is a problem because the stuff its standardized for potency.
n the right hands heroin may be less problematic if it is standardized to a certian potency. I think you would feel better taking vitamins, aminos, and whatever herbs sound like the right treatment. unless you are trying to get away from taking anything at all, I have no experience in that realm, very little, about 4 months in the last some twenty years are all I have gone "clean" except for smokes and meds.

I should add to my post above that I do personally know of one person who exercises regularly and says his kicks are much easier because of it. This is the route I'm going to take here shortly, as soon as I start making enough $ to pay the bill....
