someone i just met in LA has been telling me
about this stuff, pyracetam powder (i think i'm spelling it right?)
and how he dissolves some in water 3x/day and drinks it
and that now when he smokes weed, he gets twice as high as he would have without the powder
it's supposed to work for alcohol as well, and to a much lesser extent other drugs
i googled, but i was wondering if anyone here had tried or heard of it
stories anyone?

I guess LA once again confirmed its rep for being home of the wackos ;)

Back in the day when I was on a health-trip, piracetam was one of the substances I tried (supposedly it improves cognitive thinking and memory), but never really felt a difference. And one thing I sure as hell didn't notice, was that I got any higher when I smoked weed.

Think it's one of those things that are caused by placebo effect. In which case I just ruined it for you, lol!

I guess my question would be; why would you need a potentiator for weed.

I mean I could see if it was dirt weed, but why did you get that in the 1st place....

Weed gets me pretty fucked up all by it's self.

It's like the Coors cans and bottles where the shit turns blue when it's cold:rolleyes: - I mean if you need to have that to know when something is cold.....put the joint down and just back away. :D

I have taken it -- supposed to be a "smart drug" or mild stimulant if you take daily. Save your money. The only OTC stimulant I ever took worth more than caffiene was Adrafanil (cousin to the Schedule IV stimulant Modafinil). It worked well , but is more expensive than adderall, dexedrine, etc.

Shelly I doubt you would feel the Pyr.

Piracetam isn't a stimulant.
I read that it actually tends to decrease the effects of alcohol and opiates. Personally I've experienced what felt like it reducing the effect of opiates.
For cognitive function, it definitely does something for me. In particular at times when I'm tired and normally in poor focus, it gives a significant boost.

Piracetam possesses some properties not related to the nootropic activity. The purpose of the work was to study piracetam influence on effects of narcotic analgesics and opioid peptides at intracerebroventricular administration. In experiments on cats it was found that piracetam in a dose-dependent way prevented the emetic effect of morphine and leu-enkephalin. In experiments on rats (tail-flick test) piracetam was shown to be able of blocking the analgesic effect of fentanyl. Experiments on the study of the anticataleptogenic effect of piracetam also showed antagonism between piracetam and agonists of opioid receptors. Thus, it was shown on a number of models that piracetam exhibits antagonistic properties with respect of opioid peptides and narcotic analgesics.

I like Piracetam, and I'm really interested in its cousins and other nootropics.. Virtually non-toxic, a neuro-protectant and improves cognition and communication between the hemispheres of the brain, also very effective at protecting cells against hypoxia.. People generally report stronger effects with Oxiracetam and Aniracetam, but Piracetam is cheap.

Dunno about the weed thing, I think if I was back on Piracetam, I wouldn't be smoking weed or not much anyway, seems kinda counter productive..

And I'm not certain, but I took the shit in caps, not sure it would dissolve in water, sounds kinda shady to me..

edit: shit, didn't realize this thread was a month old..

it's all good buddy... still an interesting thread.

I've taken a lot of Piracetam and Aniracetam. I've never noticed it making any high better. Aniracetam is basically the same, it just seems stronger and possibly shorter acting (just based on my experience).

They do two things: make you feel energetic and focused and give you a massive headache later on. They deplete your brain of acetylcholine which makes you focus until your brain dries out so-to-speak and your head pounds.

If you want to be more focused for some reading or learning take a small dose of Aniracetam or Piracetam (not both) and a Choline supplement to prevent any headaches later on (I usually take the Choline a good hour before either of the other two because it has to convert to acetylcholine).

It won't help a high tho sorry.

I've heard taking choline (acetylcholine?) improves the effects, but I've never had or read of anyone getting a headache from it, and I've read A LOT of reports on it. Stuff really has no toxicity that they can find, I'm not even sure they've found an LD50 for it..

Choline is converted by your body to Acetylcholine and a shortage of acetylcholine can cause headaches. Piracetam and Aniracetam deplete your acetylcholine quickly.

I would get a headache from it at times, but stopped most likely either because I lowered the dosage or because I started taking choline with it.
It can have side effects similar to a stimulant, like nervousness or irritability. This was another reason why I lowered the doses I was taking.
