Wow. poor thing. This really makes me sad.

CPS officials say there has to pretty much be serious physical abuse -- major bruises or broken bones -- before a child is taken away from his parents automatically.

I know CPS has jumped the gun and removed kids from their home prematurely or removed them when it really wasn't the *right* thing to do. But man when you're dealing with little kids it seems like a harsh thing to say "we're waiting for Josh's mom to break his leg before we get him out of there."..or "eat his eye ball".

I don't think you guys understand what she is saying.

CPS has removed kids unjustly at times, and to avoid this, they usually have to wait or suspect that something really violent will happen.

If they removed all children from all the questionable situations they would be inundated with children.

Yeah I'm fucking serious. In that article it said they don't remove kids from the home until they have serious bruising or broken bones. that's fucked up to me. If abuse is suspected...that kid needs some help..he/she shouldn't have to wait until it escalates to that.

Now..maybe there's kids out there who never got abused in the past then dad flips and breaks a bone and so nobody ever had a chance to remove him. But if someones pushing their kids around..it's no bueno...they shouldn't wait for it to get that bad. I don't know if CPS had evidence of that dad abusing his son before he ate his eye ball..but if they did..that kid shoulda been out of the home already. Sometimes there are no warnings...and nobody knew they needed to intervene.. All I'm saying is that if CPS has evidence of some poor child getting pushed around by their parents..they should not wait until it ecalates into a broken bone. I may be a junkie but I have a heart for kids who are getting abused.

EDIT: Maybe I'm wording it wrong..but hell NO that kid shouldn't stay with those parents...infact if abuse was suspected before he should have been removed along time ago.

EDIT again: I see where the confusion was. I meant that CPS has crossed the line before by removing kids prematurely..and it has. A friend of mine smokes MJ and she has 2 small children. She loves those girls..never hurt them a day in their lives. She doesn't smoke around them but she leaves her pipe on her bedroom dresser. So the girls have seen it before. One day the 2nd grader went to school and D.A.R.E was there they showe d pics of pipes and drugs and said do any of your parents have these in the home. My friends daughter told the dare worker that her mom has a pipe in the house. So..2 days later she had both her kids taken away because of that incident. They raided the house..found a small bag of weed..several pipes and bong. So..all I was saying is CPS does fuck up. But when it comes to abuse they shouldn't be messin' around waiting for a broken bone.

I understood you the first time Prisy, and agree completly.
Unfortunately we hear these stories at least 2-3 times a year in our own areas, so imagine how many times it's happening around our country. It breaks my heart.
