So I recently quit smoking cannabis about a 5 weeks ago and it's going great so far, not a single craving after the second week. Well I used to smoke everyday for a about 5 years until I quit and the only time I would remember my dreams would be on heavy doses of opiates which I believe is quite common anyway. Since I have quit smoking with or without opiates I have been having the most vivid and intense dreams ever. It is hard to explain but some of them are, more real than "real" life itself, it is hard to explain. Unfortuantly the most real and vivid have been the most frightening and waking up from it results in confusion, wondering which world is real. Well...I haven't really cried in maybe a year and 3 days ago I awoke from a dream that was so scary and real I balled my eyes out for 10 minutes. In a weird way it was refreshing to cry, maybe our bodies need to every now and then. Anyone else notice when they quit they remember them more and have more lucid dreams?

Same goes for dope (and probably benzos/other depressants) ... i get disturbing, vivid dreams.
They say popping one to two valiums here and there helps with the pot detox/nightmares.

I actually was on klonopin 1mg at night for a few years and coincedently quit them at the same time I quit smoking because my doctor closed his practice and and I decided it may have been a sign to start dealing with anxiety and insomnia without them, so far so good...opiates help:rolleyes:

Wow.. to the original poster. that is exactly what happens to me.. I am a heavy herb smoker, and smoke daily every day, but if I take a small break, the dreams I get are almost too intense to deal with.. i even recall having more than 1 nightmare in a single nite.. as if 1 wasn't enough...
interesting to see others have experienced the same thing...
