View Full Version : A new 'private' forum?

Sometimes I post things in forums they don't belong simply because I know that these places are not visible to non-members.
I have only counted 5 'private' forums on the site. What ends up happening, of course, is that they are moved to some other public forum. I really like the community so far and enjoy feedback on things, but I feel like there are things I don't really want out there to everyone and feel more comfortable with it staying within these borders ya know?
Perhaps there should be a general forum where the posts are never moved to more "appropriate" places simply because the poster would like them to remain private.
This wouldn't be worth doing unless a lot of others feel this way. So what's the consensus? Is this something only I care about?

As you have seen, there are places to post where only the Moderator and yourself can see your post. If there was a particular post of yours that you posted in these "private areas" then please let one of the moderators/administrators know. More than likely our moderators are not going to move any posts from these areas into the general board.
I would say that most of the members here are more likely to post freely even about things that may be more private as they are looking for feedback and suggestions from others members who may have experienced the same problem or situation.
Please feel free to post in the areas that are private. These areas are moderated by health professionals, like myself and Popplvr. We are both nurses and other areas marked as private are moderated by those with experience in other areas of healthcare or areas of their particular expertise. I can assure you that we would not move your post to the general board.
I would imagine that the only time you may not see your post or if it is removed it might be due to one of our moderators feeling it is inappropriate material.
I hope this offers you some solace in feeling you can post in those areas for those who want to post privately.

As far as "private" forums–the General Forum, Pain Management forums, Piss and Moan, and the General Chat forum (and all sub-forums in it) can only be seen by members of the site.
As far as creating a new forum, that is unfortunately not going to happen. We've been working for quite some time to streamline the site, so we're not going to add any forums for the forseeable future.
All I can say is post it where it belongs, and if you're not comfortable with it being on the net, don't post it. There is only so much privacy on the web.

Yep: seems like periodically, somebody'll come off a bad binge or get religion or something, and want their name taken off here, or their posts protected more, etc...Kind of like a couple girl's names I have tattooed on me....
We aren't going to do it, not going to bother with it: too much hassle...look at this as something you can sit w/your grandkids seventy years from now, and say: "look here's grandpa asking how to fix peanut butter oil!"
Billions of people can see what you post: yes, every stupid thing, and not only that: they are probably making huge databases "as we speak."...Some night, when it's dark and rainy, and you're kicking dope, and life seems like it can't get any worse, you'll see a long black car pull up, and a couple of guys in suits will get out, and come and knock on your door...be afraid...be very very afraid!!!
Hahaha....

As brony mentioned, there are several forums that even though they aren't marked "private" are only viewable by members. If you want to check it out for yourself, sign out and view the site. You will only see the drug forums, Civilization and it's sub-forums, Law, Withdrawal, and the Harm Reduction forums.
As far as posting things where they don't belong, stop doing it. We are just going to move them to the forum that they do belong in. If you don't want people reading what you have written, be very vague and don't incriminate yourself. This is the internet after all.
