Mornin'Y'all.....Was reading some of the stuff on here out of curiosity, havent smoked weed since the 70's,cept for maybe a toke here and there,....but got ta readin; and got to reminicing about my days.......at first, pot was referred to mostly as 'commercial",then along came these exotic species of weed.....some really fuckin' good......some were so good they had Top 40 songs about them ....(Panama Red comes to mind as 1):).........I met a cool mexican dude on a big refinery job I was on in Texas.......he had a fuckin' smorgasboard of differert weed.....only sold LB's.....he took a likin' to me...and I had some outa town friends wanting to buy in quantity,so I startrd makin' some big bucks...............this guy had: pardon my spelling...
Wahauccan
Sinseamia (seedless, this was a big thing then)
Columbian
Acapulco Gold (Actually Gold in color, almost too beautiful to smoke)
and a few others I cant remember the names of.....but it was all very popular......I made a nice chunkachange in this gig in less then a year.
Another weed adventure,I got a call from a friend in the mid 80's,they had found a bale of weed washed up on the beach in Corpus Christi, offered it to me........so's I haul ass out to the beach area where he lived, and drove home with the bale in the open bed of my pickup....thats the risktaker part of me...........got it home,it wasnt to bad,it was in plastic,,we dried it out,it was about 70 LB's..........but it really wasnt any good,a dumbass I knew wanted to spray some Pine-sol type crap on it to change the smell, which wasnt cool in my opinion,so after a while I ended up tossing it in a dumpster.........the big score that never was........
So I have no idea whats out there in the world of weed today,Im sure there are still cool names for the stuff, also I remember the price I was paying for those Lb's was around $300.00................can only imagine what it is today.......Patches

GOODGOOGALAMOOGALY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
Talk about Inflation..........................has the quality risen with the price??? I wonder why its so high????? I mean, when ya compare car and food prices from the 70's,I mean a Chevy Impala was 4-5 grand then, and there 20-25 now,so the weed has sailed way ahead of other stuff from that era percentage wise. P:confused:

Thats the difference I guess.......I remember as a teen,we would pile in a Pontiac Catalina a friend had......sat 6 of us no prob...............we would circumnavigate the towns perimeter, smokin joint after joint,we'd get back to are hangout and open the doors and it would look like the car was on fire......somethin' outa Cheech and Chong.....it was all quantity and little quality...untill the columbian and all came on the scene, but that was big bucks....$40 an ozer!!! I bet DF has some memories of yesteryears weed.........Patches:)

Lemme guess: you live in Florida..
I started smoking pot when I was twelve back in 74.
Commercial..........$10 a lid. A four finger lid. Lids weren't weighed........they were measured by holding four fingers up to the bag.
I smoked tons of "mersh" back in the day.
By the time I was fifteen/sixteen mersh wasn't good enough..........we sought out the exotics.
Panama Red
Columbian........regular "lumbo" and Gold.
Acopulco Gold........sometimes sold with orange peels in the bag to keep it moist.
A variety of seedless........"christmas tree" buds.
And of course the mighty Thia stick..........the small ones with three or four joints were the best......some were opiumated.
There was lots of varieties of hash and hash oils.
The 70's.........it was a magic time. I miss being a kid........those were the days.

Yeah yeah Buc,how could I have forgotten "Thai Sticks".........man that stuff was something else, and yeah the nicknames....Lumbo,or Ce-bo.....we had quite a menu to choose from back then huh?? And ya know what, another thing.......my first arrest.....not that I have a long rap sheet or anything...was for possession of weed.Friday night,me and a buddy parked in a dark cul-de-sac at 1 in the morning, waiting for 2 girls to sneak out and meet us,there we were, new ozer, bottle of wine, and a water pipe filled with the wine,I really wanted to split, but my accomplice says no no lets wait......so eventually a cop wheels in and caught us big time...sitting there in my 64 GTO with the 8track blasting and a puffin away on the pipe..........got to court, will never forget, the judge gave me a $25.00 fine.......and a $50.00 fine for the parking ticket I'd also gotten, parked on the wrong side of the road.......imagine that.....so the lesson we learned in 1973 was its OK to toke but watch how the hell ya park!!!!:).............................Patches

Wine in the pipe..........sometimes that was the only reason we had wine.
just to put in the pipe.

The best weed I had was some Red Bud that I bought at a concert. I paid $50.00 for a four-finger bag. I remember thinking that 50 bucks was a little on the steep side at the time. We used be able to get an OZ of decent Mexican for 25 or 30 bucks. Those days are long gone.
I just can't smoke it any more. I get too paranoid. I also can't bring myself to pay the going price for it. I quit around 79 or 80 and I can count the times I've toked since then one one hand.
It amazes when I read what folks are paying these days. I'll stick with my nostalgic reminiscence, thank you very much. :)

ROFL you guys are getting ripped the fuck off. I guess I get to be thankful i live in farmland, because we've got at least 60 different indoors going right (not we as in me personally, just close, close friends), not to mention the massive number of outdoor corn field nugget that gets planted here. I've NEVER payed more than 500 an elbow for commercial/outdoor nugget (just cuz these guys grow so damned much they always charge commercial price for it, and around mid september you actually see bricks of nugget, they arent super pressed like commerical, they're thrown into a trash compactor from what i hear and they just comapct all the outdoor nugget into brick so they can be shipped off to wherever). Nugget, now, good indoor, i've never had to pay more than 2500 an elbow. I'm talking all kinds of nugget, original seeds, cross strains, some good ones tha come to mind
Hog's Breath (the big one around here, super powerful indica with enough sativa to give you a great body high, but will head stone you until you can't think anymore)
Purple Conquistador (Purple x Acapulco) - The shit most of the indoor guys are growin' now
Purple Island Super Skunk (seeds came from one of the florida keys, GREAT stuff, hard to grow)
Big Floppy Donkey Dick (Donkey Dick x Sour Diesel) - We've got 1 ounce dry weight buds off of these plants, they're really weird, not a lot of small buds, plants produces HUGE tops instead of producing a lot of buds)
Most of the outdoor is a Northern Lights strain, i know because i've seen the seeds and that's what they started out with back in the early eighties.
Also, you have to realize that people are paying the price because the THC content of the strains grown now is 10x higher than those grown in the 70's. More stoned = more money, makes sense to me.

$2500 an elbow? that's $156.25 an ounce... you should have to buy maybe 2 oz to get a price like that from a good source.
EDIT: I suppose it really does depend on quality... if it's that good that may be a really good price. Certainly $500 for a lb is dirt cheap.

like i said, this is the best indoor hydro i've ever had, and I'll GLADLY put up to anything from amsterdam in the pepsi challenge. And when you consider people buy 1/8ths for 60,are you really that weirded about 150 an ounce? because half of that makes your money back plus some. And it IS that good, i wouldn't pay for it if it wasn't, and yeah the commercial and outdoor shit (the outdoor usually stays around local or in the immediate area within 100 mile radius) is special for us, that's like, our local good bud lol, i mean i wouldnt call it QUITE as good as that indoor hydro, but it's still nugget, it's the shit that you smoke with black boy dealers cuz they arent in the loop. I just can't wait to get to hawaii. 2 and a half more years, boys. I want to get out of here so bad it hurts.
In this part of Central Texas nobody buys the high dollar stuff.
Folks don't make a whole lotta money around here for one........but the biggest reason is because we're right next door to Mexico. Pot/coke very cheap here.
Lbs. for $350-$400 everyday. It's not horrible shit either..........I think you'd be surprised.

I started smoking around 1975. Anyone remember banana bud? It was yellow and came in one big curved bud. Good shit there.
Lid, nickle bag, 5 fingers, Panama Red, nasty columbian ship weed.....I can't remember half the shit that went around. None of it compares to the strains we see now, except some of the Hawaiian my friend's uncle used to ship over in macadamia nut canisters.
I rarely smoke now, I prefer opiates and I can get the opiates out of my system if I need to take a UA.

You're talkin about commercial grade weed. Mostly mexican. The stuff has gotten a lot better but it's not really in the same league as domesticly grown dank. It's like comparing Coors lite to Guiness.
The stuff that goes for 4k/lb is like what you would see on the cover of High Times magazine. High quality domestic outdoor can be had for 3k in the fall maybe a little less if you know somebody.
Back in the early eighties when I was in HS the best weed we got our hands on was Lumbo (columbian). I think we paid about 10 bucks an 1/8. It had quite a few big ass seeds in it but man did it get us ripped, and oh yeah it was brown.
