cocos nucifera husk fiber is a "mundane" material that most people wouldnt consider worth much except for soil substrate, or various commercial uses.
its coconut fiber...cocos nucifera is the coconut palm.
apparently, in Brazil, a tea from this husk fiber is known for arthritis and diarrhea treatments....
so some scientific analysis has shown anti cancer effects, and also the antagonist test on analgesia from cocos nucifera tea extract was positive for showing possibly that there is some opioidergic activity going on.
also interaction with serotonin and histamine system might be present as well.
"olho de cravo" is the south american name for the medicinal, catechin rich tea that has been used as a folk medicine for years.
recently when a freind in Brazil caught hemmorhagic fever, he said that coconut water saved his life.
I didnt take that as seriously until I read these different reports about cocos nucifera and its many possible medicinal and food uses...
I will be paying attention to this.
as of yet, I have found no commercial extracts of coconut husk. and I dont know if the fiber is even sold for consumption use. I am sure that sourcing coconut fiber that hasnt been maligned by some chemical is possible...but I also know that just sourcing coconut fiber anywhere for experimentation might be foolish.
if there are useful opioid compounds in coconut fiber, that would be an amazing thing. such a common substance, used all over the world, a commodity in many ways, would be even more of a commodity for targeting specific isolations/fractions for research and developement.
