Anyone tried an enema

Has anyone tried those little 88 cent enemas that you can get in the grocery store.

The constipation drives me crazy. And I almost bought one. But: 1. I have a phobia of putting things up my ass. (NO NO, I know doing this doesnt make you gay or anything, its nothing like that. It just scares the shit outta me). 2. Im afraid it would work too well. Like I couldnt leave the house for a couple days cuz I'd be shittin every 5 mins. 3. Or it just doesnt work at all.

Id like to see anyone have any experience?

I had one, at the hospital. Its weird... like a *little* tube goes into your butt, water squishes up, and you are supposed to hold it in as long as possible. That part isn't painful. Since its only water, and not firey crap, Its not.. bad. Once you "release", its ok. Its like having diahreaz come out of your butt, without the cramping and ill feeling....

They either work or you just shit the water back out.

Miralax has been a miracle for me -- but it took about 5 or 6 days to work. Its hard to keep taking something every day with no results. I glad I stuck with it. I had tried it several times over the years (even had it scripted by a dr. before it was OTC) and always gave up before it worked.

I know, I hate it too. I have a library in my bathroom, always have. I always enjoyed the "down" time, being away for a while, taking a dump, and getting some good baseball reading in. Opies kinda fuck that up.

Im weird though. I only have problems sometimes. Sure I get the hard opi shits. But usually I dont have a problem with constipation. But every now and then I do. (Like right now).

So Im considering buying one. But Im afraid of it not working.

it ain't nothin to be scared of... if it doesn't work, it won't make it worse. and if it does work, you'll feel tons better (literally). and no, it won't give you days and days of explosive shits. feels awkward the first time... but then, so do a lot of things, right? :rolleyes:

I use enulose or lactulose syrup everyday which you can use either orally or rectally. I have only taken it orally and it tastes like a sweet syrup sweetener and isn't too bad if mixed with juice. I was surprised that in its prepared form it can go either in the butt or down your throat, I guess I figured they wouldn't need to make the enema sugar flavored but I guess that way then can sell it in the same bottle. I have tremendous success with it - 90mg methadone daily and bowel movement almost every day so you might want to give this stuff a try - I can't live without it.

Now that I have THAT out of my system - those enemas tend to work really well. They will usually only promote one movement. Ironically I had to give one to a patient who hadn't pooped in 6 days - since we started her on Suboxone as a matter of fact.
Once you get the poop out, you need to keep your bowels working . Drink plenty of water, eat fresh fruits (apples, oranges, grapes work well) and veggies - anything with fiber - (celery, broccoli, cabbage are your friends). If you still stay contipated despite those natural methods, add docusate (colace is the brand name) 1 pill twice a day with lots of water. You can use any senna based laxative once in awhile - it's a natural fiber and doesn't give side effects. And then there's MiraLax which really is a miracle in constipation treatment.

OK so I tried it.... It worked pretty well. Based on forensic evidence left at the scene, it didnt clear a whole person out, but it did make me feel much better.

They also have little waxy bullet shaped things you stick up your butt (and c'mom, it is NO BIG DEAL - it's just another part of your body! For women who have given birth, NOTHING really bothers yu any more. (They are made by FLEET - the enema people... so you know they're the real deal.......

Those work pretty well sometimes, and within 15-60 minutes. It is an alternative to an enema but still need to stick it up the ol' poop-hole. I just don't find doing that as weird as some people, I guess. I mean, I don't stick stuff up there recreationally or anything.


(I used to work in an ER and you would not IMAGINE what we saw! And I am not talking enemas! Or little waxy bullets!

The best/worst was a guy used a Hoover vacuum on his weenie to try to get off. He almost got IT off, let me tell ya. He was in pretty bad shape. The doctor wrote on his discharge instructions "switch to broom for cleaning purposes; no suction devices".

I gotta admit it was a very weird thing to even consider doing, at least in my mind. But it's so small you dont really notice. But in the effort of health, it worked pretty well.

Yes,they are glycerin suppositories and they work great for me. They are made by fleets but you can get generic too. IME,the brand name works best. But you kinda have to wait til the poo is "right there" and you have the urge to push but you're just to plugged up. Just insert one and within 5 minutes.....ahhhh...relief!!
