Well i am having ONE HELL OF A FUCKIN DAY!
A quick background info...currently taking subs about 3mg a day...i had stockpiled a shitload! But i am scripted 5 mg percs for RA flares by my GP (he doesn't know about subs)
Well i am curious...because i just hit my elbow on my MIL car and it instantly dropped me to my knees...i swore, hopped around for a few... tried to walk it off
NOW it is bruised and killing me...i am seriouosly considering going to ER
here's the question of the day...
Since i haven't been scripted subs in awhile / only the baby percs....what would they do for pain? I would tell them i take the percs daily...
I am wondering if they can do anything for broken elbow AND if they would just tell me to take my percs or would they give me sumthing stronger for pain????
I am typing this one-handed so its gonna be short and sweet
I need sum advice ASAP, in alotta pain:(

You never know with the er. It could go either way. I would definately tell them about the percs and push the fact that you are in alot of pain. Go high on the pain scale. If anything, get documentation and x-rays and other stuff and take that to a pain doc. This could come out good as far as meds go.
You are just looking to get stronger percs right?

if your elbow isn't broken which it probably isn't because it is a very strong bone, you are probably not gonna get anything better than what you already have :/
they're definitely not gonna give ya oxycontin, roxis, anything for breakthrough i don't see anything else worth while oral that you're looking for prob won't get ms contin either what are you hoping for?
you might get vicodin but i think percs are better and you'll probably get some Ibuprofen

I would go if it is bothering you that much.
As far as what to tell them, that can be touch and go.
Depending on the injury and what they find may determine what type of pain
control they do administer to you.
But, if there is an injury you want to take care of it before too long, especially in a joint where
movement can be restricted over time if not properly taken care of.

Well i am pretty sure since i have Rheumatoid Arthritis my bones can break a little easier than the average person
I would be happy with stronger percs....at this point i am kicking myself in the ass for being on subs.
Any one know if i take a little extra sub will that help with the pain???

A guy in my sub group (like NA but better) SWEARS that sub helps some pain he had before he went on sub. That is the only time anyone has mentioned that the sub we're prescribed helps with pain. Even though, yes, at very low doses (.02 mg!) (Temgesic) it was/is used as a pain reliever overseas.
Good luck. I know that breaking your "olecranon process" (- - the bone in your elbow, and around it) ....(I used to work for an ortho) is extremely painful. Cruel irony that they call it the funny bone.
Sue PS Keep us posted if you can.

The RA shouldnt make the bone easier to break unless your elbow is a common site that has flared up on you frequently and possibly sustained erosion damage weakening the bone.I would probably go if it continued to hurt and cause me issues...it could depending on how much you stressed yourself cause a flare up of the RA itself.
Take a driver with you in case they want to give you a pain shot..I hope if you continue to hurt that you get a good dr that will script you something to help keep you comfortable.I hate that they see that you have pain meds and automatically think that you dont need any at all cause you have a script. when will drs understand that a CP script doesnt mean you are ok if something additional happens to you..you will need a higher dose than you take daily.I just dont get it.
I have never understood why they call it the "funny bone"...I hope you just knocked it for a loop not a break. And speedy wishes for a quick trip if you decide to go to the ER.

who knows what there gonna give you for pain..oh btw you look pretty new to me:).
I would bet money that it isn't broken. There have been so many times when I have SWORN I broke a bone and it ended up not be. Then again, the couple times I have broken a bone I didn't think I had.

Yes, most definitely. The only reason I can be so sure is during my last PM appt. the doctor and I started talking about him. He told me that he was once a junkie himself and his DOC was fent (he actually said alot of things that I was surprised about :)). I asked him what he would do if he ever got injured and he said, "I would manage my pain with subs. I actually do it already for my back."
