View Full Version : If I ruled the world...

Imagine that.

Thought this would be an interesting thread to see how people felt about various issues. Obviously the point is mostly about drug policy, but all topics are open as far as I'm concerned.

If I ruled the world, I would decriminalize drugs. I wouldn't legalize them, because then you'd just end up with another corporate monopoly of a good thing, like beer, tobacco, and entertainment.

I would legalize possession for research and investigation purposes. It would create a grey area but it would also encourage research for every user, and that's a good thing. I'd give grants for creativity in research.

As for punishment, I wouldn't fine folks. This is too easy for the wealthy, and its cruel and unusual for the working man and women, after all the gov has plenty of money and they always fuck it up anyway.

There's more, for later... I'll leave it there for now. Anybody else?

I would make each country independent of outside influence from other countries. No worrying about negative repercussions for this form of government or that drug policy.
Translation: The us gov't can keep it's fat, booger-filled nose out of others' business and take care of it's own. Certainly, forcing the legalization of drugs doesn't make sense any more than the forced illegalization of drugs.
But if we are just doing pipe dreams, then yeah, I wish all drugs were legal everywhere in the world and everyone got 3 choices of drug to get delivered free to their door. That's monthly, not weekly. Can't overwork the postal system.:)

Ha! That's a good wish, for free drugs! I didn't necessarily mean this was a genie in the bottle situation, but hey, most governments can afford to send us drugs if they wanted to! And speaking of the post office, I would certainly abolish that shit too! What a waste of public money! And the IRS... all that shit would be privatized so it wouldn't be a ridiculous bureaucracy. Can you imagine how cheap stamps would be, and how much less we would pay in taxes, if those organizations were actually efficient! Ha talk about a pipe dream!

As for the US keeping to itself, I would also like to see that; likewise the US should keep all its money, too, and impose tariffs on all international companies' products. The citizens of the US should be paid to allow other countries to market to us! That would create more money inside the country, promote a healthy middle class, and get us out of debt with China (and out of bed with Saudi Arabia!).

Blah blah I know, yuk politics, right? I just thought (and still do) that there must be at least a couple of people around here that talk politics now and then? No?

If I ruled the world than a lot of people would be in opposition to the things I believe to be important. In other words If I ruled the world there would be forums just like this one full of people who like us have good hearts and are doing what they think is right. And what they think is right would be whats in effect today as far as drug policy goes. Quality of life for the masses...equal comfort and convenience....all men with a roof over their heads. Those who own houses with more bedrooms and bathrooms than people living there would be forced to take in homeless and allow them to live in these once a year used guest rooms.....aaaaaaahh fuck. HOM good thread and I hate to get all sour in it but this kind of talk only makes me more and more sad when it comes to the race of humans inhabiting the earth.

If this post is obtrusive to the thread in any way just ignore it. My brain is fried. It ended up being a 19 hour shift yesterday. Rascal Flatts played SIX covers. This is a band that sold out the venue 20,000 people+, and they played covers that you can hear at a local bar from a local cover band....On the ride home in the traffic at one point the best thing on the radio(havent had one in my car for years broke off the antenna...so not used to radio music) was Metallica covering a Bob Segar Song. A night of frantic kitchen work and Horrible music....cant wait for J buffet and NIN and many others.Hopefully Tool.
God Bless this Solar System.

Not to hijack but they're doing that "If life is a highway," tune for that cars movie from pixar, right? What other covers did they do? Those guys have a good product in terms of crossing over from country to rock/alternative without mixing in the Skynyrd... that's not saying I think they're worth a shit but, the broads like em and why do we get into bands in the first place?

...hint, it's not (always) the music...

Sorry, 6 covers from RF would have caused me to jack right there. You had supplies, right?

I think of this often, there would be four criteria for death. 1 crimes against the public trust, if any politician betrays the public's trust for money or some inside benefit they would die 2 crimes against children, do something terrible against a innocent child, die. 3 crimes against the innocent, some asshole preying on someone who has not done something to the criminal or is unable todefend/protect themselves from them, die 4 crimes against the environment. You poision the planet for profit, die It's so easy. You asked perhapssomeone has some more suggestions?

Oh yeah.. the thread. This is interesting. Here's where I'd start:

All drugs legal to posess and use. People are free to grow their own growable drugs and synthesize their own lab drugs. However, in order to sell "home brew" one would have to go through the FDA. No limits on posession quantities. Age for use, 21 like alcohol. Penalties for using before legal age. The government will oversee production and sales much like they do alcohol; through laws and taxation. Healthcare systems will be altered to incorporate harm reduction treatment. This description could go on forever but...
All forms of prostitution will be legal and monitored by the department of health and human services.
Adequate low cost to free healthcare would be provided to every world citizen by their government. Ability to pay will be determined on an income based sliding scale. Subsequently....
Salary caps for doctors and widespread salary increases for nurses. Lets face it, when seeking medical care, the nurse is the front line of treatment and is often the most important person in a patient's course of treatment. Doctors sign things (no offense to any doctors or doctor lovers here but... ) and catch babies.
Speaking of salary caps... salary caps for all professional atheletes.
Salary increases for teachers. I mean is it fucked up that the average professional athelete earns income from hundreds of thousands into the millions of dollars and a tenured teacher in most areas earn under $60k a year.
Alternative fuels, alternative fuels, alternative fuels. I would make petroleum products illegal. Necessity is the mother of invention. Our hunger for oil is our #1 downfall in the US.
The average work week would be increased to 55 hours but there would be mandatory 9 weeks per year vacation for every full time worker. Work hard, play hard...
The concept of marriage would be expanded to include every human being, no matter which other human being they're planning on marrying. This is of course, short of marrying family and allowing kids under 15 to marry 50 year old. But cmon, let them gays be blissfully wed.
Each and every corporation would be required to post their accounting statements quarterly on the internet as a public service.
It would be illegal to stop in the middle of the aisle at the grocery store and talk to your friends for fifteen minutes blocking the entire aisle for anyone trying to get through (sorry, I just went shopping today)
Free education for high-school graduates. Since the teachers will be paid like michael jordan, them graduation rates should skyrocket...
American corporations seeking labor from other countries would be required to pay equivalent wages as they would to American citizens. Lets keep our fucking work here and or/pay people in poorer countries some money so they can do better. I'm pretty liberal in my politics but this is one thing that fucking pisses me off. Lets keep our labor here.
Punk kids will not be allowed to play basketball in the suburban streets past 1am, YOU HEAR ME OUT THERE YOU LITTLE FUCKERS??!!!??!? I'M COMING FOR YOU IN ABOUT TEN MINUTES, BITCHES!!!!Ok... I think I've got to think some more about MY world, Cornburglearth. More to come after I sleep and hopefully dream. Right after I stuff that basketball up that punk Ronny's ass. God I hate that fucking kid and his sick ass dad who rides around our streets with no shirt on, hairy ass back and man tits and always, ALWAYS stops to talk to my wife and asks her when we're going to get together to all BBQ or something. I don't like you, I know you want to fuck my wife because your wife is a huge fucking lardo bitch who yells at your dumbass kids all day at the top of her fucking lungs so loud I can hear it over my lawnmower which reminds me are you ever going to cut that damned grass? Or do you plan on buying a goat to take care of that fucking jungle you call a front yard. phew..... sorry... I just had to let that out.... ok night night!

get rid of the DEA, FDA, FCC, FTC, federal reserve, IRS, etc., almost everything except the 3 branches of government and the military. drugs would be legal for sale, possession, and use. government would have to balance it's budget and get it's revenue through non-coercive methods (service fees, lotteries, raffles, etc.). everything is legal as long as it does not violate another's right to life, liberty, and property. restore the constitution's authority and reduce the size and scope of the government. maintain the strongest military for self defense purposes.
laisezz-faire capitalism is the most fair system because everyone is free to do what they want. free to keep their earnings. no one has the right to say what you can or can't sell or how much money you are allowed to make. I don't see why people would want to live in a system where some people couldn't be free, why would you want to take away freedom from some people? salary caps are bullshit.

Very interesting so far, and I was hoping devilsdrug would post here (don't mean to call you out dd I'm just dying to know!) and blackdog... ok I won't call anyone else out.

I will say this, if I had to establish an entire governmental system over from scratch, I would set it up to be a lot like Plato's Ideal State. Read about it if you haven't, its in The Republic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_%28Plato%29)... and speaking of, if you're inclined to read this author, also read the allegory of the cave (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plato%27s_allegory_of_the_cave), its very relevant to our plight as opiophiles!

Well for one, the World Bank and International Monetary Fund would virtually dissapear.

- drug enforcement is a fairly new thing; and sooner or later, I think that the gov't will learn from the prohibition era that more murder and REAL crimes happen when a substance is illegal.

That "children get older," is from Fleetwod Mac's Landslide which was also covered by the Dixie Chicks which makes it weird that RF was doing it as well.

Shit... I should go on "Stump the Booey."

This single world enconomy shit scares the hell out of me. I'm probably going to get blasted for this one but I hold this as one of the pathways to facist government which is what I think the neo-cons want. That's of course the worst case scenario. At best, the single economy just dilutes the good economies, like ours and some in Europe and Asia, to the point where we're keeping pace with the other 98% of the poor ass world. Shit, I like living in the richest country in the world where we can try to spend our disposable income on drugs.

Dont be scared...its the Illuminati....and their coming to save us...or enslave us.
One can only hope its the former.
I just hope the change that will eventually need to happen to balance things out happens in my lifetime.
