Aight. I thought that this would've been mentioned by now by someone but I looked and I guess it hasn't been cause I looked.

Apparently the FDA has ordered more than 10 companies to CEASE manufacturing 14 "non-approved" narcotic medications within 2 weeks and to stop selling them within 90 days or they will face criminal action.

Some of these medications include oral preparations of morphine, oxycodone, and instant release preperations of morphine, oxycodone, and HYDROMORPHONE.

Shit is fucked.

I didn't look to hard into the specific medications, those were just the few of the ones mentioned by the news organizations.

Okay...Here's a link.

I think a little chunk of the sky just fell today...

Wow, this is strange - several Big Pharma companies listed - I figured they would all along the lines of "Jay & Silent Bob's Pharmacy".
Wonder what the FDA has in mind to replace those banned meds for the CP patients whou bepend on them....

I figured it was just a matter of time before another post like this hit opiophile, Stack - Please re-read the FDA website they are NOT Banning those Opiates

Yeah. I realize that they are not banning those specific opiates. If you were to read my post thoroughly, by-passing the gibberish that was the first sentence, you'd see that I stated that they are banning certain preparations of those medications.

Which, to me seems like it is the first step. Most of these meds are used in hospice, but I also noticed that they are banning certain IR versions of some meds, which to me, is cause for alarm. If this isn't a reason to be concerned, I can't think of any other one that would. This isn't some hysterical post and I'm not retarded and I have average comprehension skillz. And sometimes I neglect to use commas and produce run on sentences.

And anyway...

I looked at the list of "unapproved" drugs and it clearly looks like some kind of DEA/FDA witch hunt.

All of the drugs listed have been commonly used for quite some time. For example, 15mg and 30mg IR morphine sulfate, Morphine Sulfate 20mg/mL concentrate, 2mg and 4mg Hydromorphone tablets. Granted, only some manufacturers versions of these products are targeted, but it still seems like bullshit to me.

I reopened this real quick to comment. They are not stopping production of these drugs. The are asking the companies that don't have FDA approval to produce them to cease production or apply for approval. All the drugs will still be available because they are all made by other companies. Nothing is going to disappear off pharmacy shelves because other companies make them too. You guys should read more carefully before jumping to conculsions and spreading misinformation.
