Vaporizers convenient?

Looks like I'm going to be living in an apartment building next year and I don't want to risk other people in the building smelling me smoke. So I'm thinking of getting a vaporizer but had a few questions.

1) Does it smell at all? Or just less than smoking.

2) How cheap is a decent one and how much work is upkeep like cleaning it?

And just generally do you like smoking with them or no if you've ever tried?

I've smoked from a couple different ones with friends, but I don't really know much about them.

I paid around 500 for mine; it smells like really strong pot, without being smoky, if that makes sense.


It's a very rare occasion that I actually smoke the pot, anymore, just load it in the Volcano.

1. It makes the whole room smell like whatever was in your bag. Its totally different smell than smoking. I used to make a bag of popcorn to cover the smell. You wont have to worry bout it in an apartment though. It only smells up the room you are using it in.

2. My workhorse for YEARS has been the Vapor Brothers. Its simple, discrete, and under $200. Its easy to clean, just run rubbing alcohol through the whip portion every once in a while. It takes the "resin" off like a hot knife through butter.

Any other questions, ask away. I have been vaping for years. Its my primary and favorite way to enjoy herb :)

^^^ I can also recommend a Vapor Bros...... Works great......although changing the screens are a pain in the ass..... so it's best to try and clean it to get the most life out of each screen.....also, the piece where you pack the bud is made of glass, so be careful, as I have gone through a couple of these...:(

Vapor smell is easy to cover up------ Febreeze, incense, or scented candles cover it up fine.....

I'd definitely go with the Vapor Brothers. The Volcano is a bit overpriced to say the least and I'd much prefer using the tube instead of having to constantly refil those cumbersome bags. Heard a lot of compliments about the Vapor Bros too. Only thing holding me back is I think I prefer the taste and effects of smoking over vaporizing. They say you can save a lot of weed using a vap but its not the same potent high as with smoking.

i think its important to consider WHAT kind of vaporizer would be best. the old school direct-contact (conduction) types are cheap, but lame cuz they still burn your plant material. of the newer versions (convection) there are the options of having a fan system or a draw system.

the best way i have found to smoke in an apt or like i did for awhile in my bedroom while living with parents is to load single hits. you load enough in the bowl to completely burn it up in one hit, then hold it in as long as you can to not exhale any smoke at all. it gets you higher that way and barely any smell at all. of course any smoke you blow out or that comes off the pipe is waste anyways.

Actually the smoke you blow out is generally tar and other junk you really don't need in your lungs. Holding in a hit longer than 10 seconds won't get you any higher.

im sorry, you may be right, i may be right, there just isnt any proof anywhere, so i will go with my own experiments (i have actually done it many different times to see what happened) and believe that you get higher the longer you hold it in.

please dont take offense, as i dont mean it to be.

I have a silver surfer I use for good weed and dmt. I'm really happy with it. Cost 180$.

It's a non-fan convection type. Dial thermostat. It's good if you want to use it to smoke anything other than weed too. As I mentioned, i put dmt on top of ashes in the whip, and that gets better hits than any other method I've tried to vape it, much less harsh than a nineball or foil. Someone I was using dope with who didn't like to IV put some tar on top of ahses in it and they got really incredible hits using it. I had only ever seen or used dope smoked from foil before, but it got them really good hits.

One problem you might find is that vapes aren't really good for group smoking. Ime it takes a bit longer than just hitting a bowl would, and doesn't really lend to a circle of more than two or three people.

I'd reccomend a silver surfer if you see a good price on one.
