View Full Version : kratom cause precipitated withdrawals?

A friend is buying a few subs tonight to help kick dope. He did his morning shot today, and the plan is to skip his nightly shot then in the morning take 2mg of the subs sublingually and then go up from there as needed. That would of been 24hrs so hopefully there's no precipatated withdrawals. He's doing about 2 bundles a day.

Can he take kratom tonight to help him sleep or would kratom count as an opiate which would cause withdrawals when he took the subs in the morning about 10hrs later? He thought kratom wasnt exactly a full blown opiate so he was hoping he could take it.

He found out the hard way about precipataed withdrawals (IV'd 8mg after 24hrs of a H shot so he thought he was OK, he was very wrong) about a month ago but thankfully the hell that shot caused passed within an hour. That sucked. So now he's a little apprehensive about subs in general but was hoping sublingually things would be OK.

Thanks!

Kratom won't cause precip. withdrawals...the only kind of opioids that do that are full antags (narcan) or partial antags (bupe)...the reason they cause precip. withdrawals is that they rip whatever is on the receptor (heroin) off and replace it with themselves.

Wtf man!

If he takes kratom in the night, and then takes bupe in the morning... HE IS GOING TO FEEL PRECIP. WITHDRAWALS...

Kratom still binds at the mu-opoid receptor.... and the mitragyna(active kratom ingrediant) with be ripped off when they take the bupe.

Tis what I was thinking Jonny, although I have never used Kratom, I am pretty sure its a u agonist. So you should treat it the same as any other opiate with regards to bupe and precip w/d's.

Sorry, the title of the thread got me...

I was thinking that he was asking if the kratom itself would cause them, not the subs the next morning.

Even still, I doubt that taking bupe too soon after a kratom dose would cause precip withdrawals...

Even though bupe is a partial agonist, I would think that its agonist activity is still wayyyyy stronger than mitragyne's.
