I have been kinda agitated lately and feel like I have had some minor panic attacks, I explain this to my doc and he gave me Lexapro 10 mg's a day. I havnt taken any yet and have never tried any SSRI's besides Effexor (which I discontinued after 2 days) and want to get anybodys experience with this shit. I seem to be very sensitive to anything non-opiate related and always get the worst possible side-affects if there are any. So if anyone is on or has tried this Lexapro shit, please lemme know what you think about it and wether you think it might be a good try.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what might be the best SSRI or anything else that mmight help w/ minor panic attacks and just minor depression, please feel free to tell me what your taking and the dosage. I am very curious, I havnt heard the greatest things about SSRI's and am having a bit of trouble starting this regiment. Thanks in advance.

I was on lexapro for about a year and it worked great until my doc tried to up me from 15 mg a day to 20 mg a day in response to some anxiety and issues with mood control. That increase FUCKED ME UP!!! Bad!! I was all kinds of over seratonined, talking to myself, sweating, agitated, irritable, dizzy, exhausted... I was a fucking mess. So, I d/c'ed lexapro entirely (after a TAPER... this is not one to just stop because the wd is awful and makes you really nutzo) and went on effexor which, despite all the horror stories out there and believe me, they scared me good, it's working pretty good. In fact, it's probably the best emotionally I've ever been in my life. Try the lex... that's a pretty low dose just do not drop the med because you'll drop your sanity, fo sho. Taper if you want to stop, period. Good luck and hesitate not to PM me with any questions. If I didn't throw them out, I think I did, but if I didn't I got a full bottle of 20mg lexapro. That'd be a 2 month supply. On my insurance that costs $70 and I'd be glad to send them to you, nothing in return of course. Let me know.

I was on Lexapro shaunclo and I dunno it works different for diferent people for me it did nothing but others swear by it for depression and such.Has your DR ever brought up Serequel.I'm suppose to be on 400 milligrams but I take 100 milligrams every 2 days and this does the trick for me .No more agitation, panic attacks and I sleep like a baby the night I take it and also the following nightI had ver bad side effects w/EFFLEXOR,but everyones different.Actually I've tried about 15 different anti-panic drugs or anti-depressents and for me I find Serequel is the answer. The only really bad side effect is weight gain but if yur exercising normally and eating right you shouldn't have to worry.Hope this helped a li'l.

Paxil is one I've heard works well for this condition...
Whatever you do, don't take seroquel, its a dopamine/seratonin antagonist and it will kill a good mood faster than anything else... sure you're not nervous anymore, but you're not happy, or sad, or angry... you're just there and you don't give a shit...
Fuck Seroquel... Paxil's probably the one I've heard works the best.

I was prescribed Lexapro like 4 years ago. In my expereince it made me a complete bitch just mad ALL the time. I could not rest or calm down at all! It was like I was a different person. I just stopped taking them. My doc gave me Klonopin instead.
Someone once gave me a couple Seroquel I took half of one and woke up about 22 hours later only to stay awake for an hour and go back to sleep for another 12 hours. I am afraid to take them after that. Good if you want to be unconscious for a couple days IMO.

I'm on a new drug now called Geoden which makes me pretty happy compared to the other 20 anti-nut pills I've been on its one of the newer drugs I think, but yeah the serequel works excellent for sleep. It will knock you out cold for hours but you get that metallic taste in your mouth the next day and usually feel drained and the weight gain is incredible but if your at an average weight for your height and can't sleep,I think it does ok expecially if you wanna sleep w'd's. off,but if not for that reason then I wouldn't take them.Try geoden,it works well I have plenty of experience w/ different nut pills.

LMAO! That was me on Zoloft. Great drug (insert heavy sarcasm here), it made me fat, killed my sex drive and I found myself contemplating driving my car into large cement structures. I had great results with Wellbutrin and one unwanted side effect... it made me stop smoking. Well duh right, it's used as an anti-smoking aid at lower doses. And at first I thought that was a benefit. Until I couldn't smoke anymore. My doctor just shook her head at me when I asked to switch meds. After Zoloft, I was put on Lexapro but I haven't taken it. I'm not depressed and I'm tired of taking anti-depressants.

That's the truth... speaking as a nutter. (Hope I'm not being offensive to anyone, I really don't mean to, just consider myself a "nut." Kooky, but kind. But sincerely, ppl w/serious mental issues... I just bust out reading what I wrote. I should be netted. Ok, I've slapped myself straight. Ppl like the one that accosted Skelly... now that's stepping over the line. Or stumbling. Sucking on his big toe. Deff needs meds. There's a difference for me between feeling "a bit low" and unwelcomely sucking on a friend's toe.... One requires a trip to ophile, the other a trip to the psych wing.)

Be carefull with seroquil when mixing it with other shit. I had to take a friend to the ER after he mixed it with coke(keep in mind, just broke into the coke). He thought he was having a heart attack, couldn't feel his left side had an ambulence come while I am hiding the shit I forgot I had in my pocket in the bushes. I can't stand zoloft puts me in a worse mood, same with paxil most others I stay away from because of that. I'll stick with the opie's

Oy polloi, not to hijack but can we puhleaze stop worrying about offending people. I'm being good, Opiyum is being good (we've since mended fences), you and somni divine have buried the hatchet (owch) devilsdrug...well, he's just who he is and we do all love him anyhoo... so let's just post, post, post and not worry about offending.... the flame forum is there if we want to throw down...
Now, responding to everything else you wrote, I myself know that being nutty is hard. It tends to make you alienate yourself from people sometimes because NO one understands you when you're nutty.

I remember a wise old opiophile's words, from another thread...(paraphrased)"...And my father yelled back at me, 'Hell yes, everyone's fucking depressed. That's life, son.'"
I love that quote it really is an accurate summary of life, (for me anyway!!)
I think that there is a tendency nowadays to believe/expect that human beings have almost a divine right to be happy and that life should be like a fairy tale. Great emphasis on placed on material gain. Previous generations aimed to just survive. Nowadays we not only expect to live long lives but we also think that we should feel happy and idealy have an expensive lifestyle as well.
Obviously with such high expectations, some of us will inevitably fail leaving us feeling vulnerable and depressed when we shouldn't!

I knew that shit was strong, man, it really made my mind change in a matter of days, if not hours. All I wanted was some help sleeping for a few nights until my sleeping schedule got back on track... damn I can't believe my doc gave me that shit.
Oh well. Glad I only took it for one week.

Once again, shaunclo seems to have some similar experiences to mine. I HATE virtually all non-opiate drugs. When a topic like this comes up, my line to people who know me is "I am VERY strict about what I put in my body........but heroin makes the cut."
Aspirin and vitamins, that's it. Oh, and suboxone. And poppy tea occasionally. And any other opiate as long as a there isn't dog shit and dead rats .....well, any other opiate.
ANYhoo, I decided wtf? I'll give one of these SSRIs a try to be hip. Asked for Paxil cause I heard it was decent for the sensative addict. Took it for a month and decided I felt worse overall. Found out I like getting four hours sleep and being restless. Hmmmm. . . . . this post didn't help anyone.

Hey shaunclo, i've had a lot of experience with SSRI's for many years now. I first tried Zoloft and was on it for a month or two but hated the wierd side effects and dropped it. Next was paxil, only lasted two days then dropped it. Celexa was try number three and was workin' great until I got loaded on booze the first week I was taking it and started having strange halucinations (like waking dreams). Three+ years ago I went to my doc for anxiety disorder and depression. I had been on klonopin 2mg/day for the previous year and wanted to get off of benzo's. She precribed Lexapro for both the anxiety and depression. At first the Lex gave me the usual SSRI side effects like yawning and just feeling wierd. After a couple weeks I really grew acustomed to it and felt great! I felt normal again, no more constant super anxiety mode, no more suicidal thoughts, I even got off the klonz about a year ago, something I don't think I could have done without Lexapro...or oxycontin. I tappered off the Lex's starting about 6months ago from 20mg to 10 to 5 then 5 every other day then last month quit. I think I'm going to go back on them because my 16mg/day subs are not enough to keep my anxiety at bay, not like oxy's were anyways.
...sorry if this makes no sense, or is full of grammar errors, i took an ambien about an hour ago...goodnight.:drool:peace,

This site is waaaaay more theraputic than any SSRI. At least, for me.
This site has been very theraputic for me as well. I'm starting to feel more accepted here and post more too. I also just got back on Lexapro. This is week 4 of suboxone and I'm starting to feel very agitated all the time witohut oxy's. When I would get overwhelmed at work I would always have that stress reliever now I feel like panic attacks are coming back. Hopefully the Lex's will help

It's been almost eleven years off and on that Ive been working in kitchens now and I have up until this point never heard of an Orange Peeler. I.....That's true comic genius when someone invents a untensil to get the punch through....
On lexapro...
An old roommate was on tweny milligrams a day along with a klonopin script that never lasted more than a day or two after filling. He was/is an alcoholic in training and has been for years.
I definatly witnessed some weird phenomenon when I lived with this fucker.
One thing I didnt understand:
He was prescribed Lex for a suicide attempt...well actually he started on some other SSRI and has since been switched the lex for the last couple years. anyway while I lived with him he attempted suicide twice. This was a two year period of time. Why would they continue dosing him if it wasnt working.
One of his attempts involved ingesting somewhere around twenty to twenty-six milligrams of Klono...
Later I joked with him about how he was a jerk for hoarding all of his k-pins and not sharing any....
I invite anyone to come up with jokes along the lines of living with me being the cause of his suicide attempts.
Sorry 'bout the Hi-jackesque post. I just realized I did this....oops

I never had much luck with Lexapro. I'm on 100mgs Zoloft. It seems to work the best for me Shaun.

These drugs are so different per person, people swear by Zoloft and others can't handle it, same with Paxil, Prozac, Celexa, whatever. A lot depends on body type believe it or not. I'm a pretty thin dude and my doc says Paxil is where its at for my type, but hey just started it today so we will see how it goes.
I took Paxil when I was like 12 or something and I didn't think it did anything, not that I recall remembering to take them very often lol
